It would be interesting to get your views once you start using the INT 650 and a comparison of sorts between the two. On paper it tilts more towards a downgrade when it comes to price, displacement and brand, but will be interesting to know.

On another note... if you still have the bike and need a full brake system upgrade to make it solid. Let me know.

I think mine is a keeper for now. It is going to be one headache to sell it after all that I have done. Take a look...
Hi Adrena. Saw ur custom job on the backrest and the headlamp cowl. Can you share some more pictures and details of the same and any other mods that you have carried out.
Thanks and regards.

Hi There,

Have no idea about these bikes, but you "upgraded" the rear master cylinder to a Royal Enfield Unit? are the stock ones that bad?

How much improved was it after the mod?

and how straightforward was the swap? Is this a common mod job for street 750s?

Regards,
Bivin

Lemme answer these as straighforwardly as I can.

All 2014 versions of the XG750 came with wooden brakes. Read near zero. It became so bad that there were PILs and Hartals at HD showrooms across the country. You should google this and you'll find a ton of info.

If you want me to get technical, here is the problem in bullet points:
  • 2014 version had an integrated reservoir and pedal back spring. This was the first issue.
  • The master cylinder and the reservoir was placed too close to the exhaust causing the fluid would boil and loose it's viscosity
  • Rubber brake lines didn't help at all. Hence the change to braided lines.
  • Couple all this with MRF Zapper rubber which only sticks when really warm, caused a lot of trouble.

The RE Thunderbird 500 unit fits the stock bolts accurately. I had to only extend the plunger and that was it. I did try with the KTM RC390 master cylinder too but that was a bit too jerky in my experience.

These mods along with EBC HH Sintered pads more than solved the issue.

Essentially these are just normal mods that are being done on bikes of all brands and ages. Just part swaps.
