I have asked and have been granted a PDI at Bhiwandi during unpettying (kids call this unboxing these days) procedure. I must ensure that I am not getting a lemon.

I also need some advice on riding gears. (@mods, I understand that this query is off topic here, please pardon this one digress).
Congrats on the Monster !
What riding gear do you already have, and what do you plan on getting? You can check the riding gear and helmets thread for more, and ask the same there.

If this is your first big bike - then regarding helmets, make sure you get a proper snug fitting helmet, because a loose helmet which feels comfortable and thus a nice fit when you wear at the shop sitting/standing , becomes a hindrance at high speeds when it shakes and shifts on changing air pressure, and that is a serious distraction you can do without. A snug fitting helmet that compresses your cheeks a little, doesn't move when you rapidly shake your head left-right or up-down, is what you need.

Thanks Ricci. I will check that thread.

One thing I forgot to mention about the test ride.
In my bullet or any other normal bike, one has to be in a straight line if accelerating hard. Bullets can accelerate really well in a short range of one knows the sweet spots of the engine. But one must remain in a straight line, or at best a really smooth and wide curve.

The monster can accelerate in and out of line all the time. I did not feel a moments hesitation or instability when I pulled the bike from right edge of a Scorpio to left side, crossed it and immediately pulled right back in front of it as there was an auto right ahead on left side. And I pulled back in front of the auto again. I did not let go of the accelerator the whole time and accelerated from 20 to 80 in 3 or 4 seconds.

This bike has awesome stability and balance.

For the PDI list there are quite a few people who have bought a Ducati specifically on this thread, am sure someone will help you out.

For riding gear you may check out the following places (virtual and retail shops):

DSG Mumbai @ Juhu Circle. Tel: 26240706
Moto 101 @ Bandra, Mr. Rahul Karkera. Tel: 26486059, 9324209494
Performance Racing @ Tardeo. Tel: 65879696

I believe Performance Racing has the best stuff overall.

Cheers

Thanks for the leads man. I will check these places out.
I will take the discussion over to a new thread once things are finalized. Things are getting way off topic here.

Re: Ducati to re-enter India in 2015. EDIT: Bikes priced from Rs. 7.08 lakhs (page 6)

Went to Bhiwandi ware house to do an initial inspection on my bike. I noted down the engine number, chasis number and the Odo.
The odo is showing 4 KM, so I guess its a new bike indeed. They aint giving me a old or test ride bike.

Also confirmed from import data that the bike bearing this engine and chasis number was imported on 23rd Nov from Thailand.
So I guess, I am all good.

I am so excited after meeting my supermodel in person that I cant breathe properly anymore.

All paperwork and loan arrangements are complete. PDI is also done.
They will invoice it on 2nd Jan and then send for RTO. I guess I should get delivery by 7th or 10th Jan.

Cost Breakup -

· Ex-showroom without Octroi Rs. 10,15,050/-
· Registration Rs. 2,32,070/-
· Insurance Rs. 25,000/-
· Depot Charges Rs. 10,000/-
· CRTM Rs. 2,000/-
· Tcs@1% Rs. 10,658/-
· **** Total Rs. 12,94,778/-
· Support Rs. - 1,01,505/-
· Total Rs. 11,93,273/-

Down payment - Rs. 1,50,000/-
Loan (HDFC) Amount = 10,43,273/-
Interest Rate - 11% reducing balance
EMI (60 Months) = 22,829/-

I might be somewhat wrong about the Loan amount. The down payment includes Loan Processing fee and one other component (I forgot or didn't listen due to high level of concentration on the display bikes) .

However, the down payment, EMI and EMI tenure are correct.

Thanks for the detailed information Sen.

Just curious, was the 11% reducing balance interest rate the lowest quote you got or did you go ahead with Ducati for ease of operation.

Do invest in good riding gear now.

Cheers

Re: Ducati to re-enter India in 2015. EDIT: Bikes priced from Rs. 7.08 lakhs (page 6)

@Cyborg.. I called around in pretty much all banks. The lowest possible quote was 10.9%.
The problem is that most banks do not handle big bike financing. Hence choices are pretty limited.

On the other hand for the fast moving two wheeler segment, many offers and schemes are available from different banks. While the quoted interest rates will remain in the vicinity of 10.5 to 11.5, these offers reduce the effective interest rates.

Unfortunately, no such scheme is there for big bikes.

Congratulations for getting yourself what is possibly the most special set of two wheels you can get in India this side of 15 big ones.
I have been reading up on the 821 past couple of weeks and on paper it really seems like a super package. Needless to say, I will be keeping a keen eye out for a dedicated review of your bike in a few months time

So decided to check out the Scrambler and just realised that Chennai, where am currently based, does not have a dealership

Surprise how this metro was missed out. Anybody aware of plans for Ducati to open up in Chennai?

I haven't read the entire thread here, so please forgive me if this is answered already - wanted to ask if Ducati has any plans to bring in the Desert Sled Scrambler to India? I know, I should probably contact a dealer to ask this, but just throwing this out in case somebody here knew already. Thank you!

Congratulations! I've grown up with posters of the Monster on my hostel room walls.

Please do get an aftermarket exhaust - i personally don't much like the stock exhaust notes given all they have to do to meet the emission norms.

Safe riding and do post an ownership thread.
