Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

Can someone confirm if Kawasaki insists on changing the spark plugs of the Z800 every 12000km /annually?
The folks at Bangalore say they 'check' but then during warranty, Im not sure if they bother to assess the condition

Thanks!

Yes. They will ask you to change irrespective of the condition.

You need to change spark plugs after 12K KM. No time limit/interval.
I guess air filter needs to be changed at 24K KM or 36K KM. Its better we change it early because of our dusty condition. We can install re-usable after market filter like BMC or K&N.

Folks at Bangalore don't have skills to check complex stuff. Better to change a part if in doubt.

Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

The following are the costs involved in maintaining a SUZUKI Hayabusa Gen 2.
I only got the first service done from the dealer and since have done my own service and maintenance. I bought the bike in 2011 and have covered around 30,000 kms.

I service my bike once in 6 to 8 months or roughly 3000 to 4000 kms depending upon usage. Regular service would include
Oil Change : Motul 300v roughly around rs 4500. Quantity between 3.4 to 3.6 lts.
Oil Filter: About rs 1000. Either HIFlo or Champion.
Air filter: Have a BMC so it requires a clean and charge kit. Costs around Rs 1300 and good for couple of services.

The dealer would charge somewhere around 7500 for the service, it must have gone up now. The labor charges back then were between 2000 to 3000 rs but again I am sure its much more now than what was in 2011.

Ofcourse as kilometers pile up other costs crop up like brake pads , coolent change , plugs , brake/clutch oil change , chain and sprockets and tyre changes. On an average you ll go through 1 front and 2 rears for superbikes. Cost of a pair will be between 20k to 30k depending upon your source and brand.

Request to all current owners to please update this thread with your service details. We have seen a significant rise of superbike owners now on the forum. Appreciate if we could share service details here for the benefit of current and potential owners. Please make sure you use the template - so we all know what bike and what service interval you are referring to.

Mods : Can we please make this thread sticky?

The service centre has a separate section for Servicing CBR650F and it is air-conditioned and well maintained. Facilities like Wi-fi, refreshments, automobile magazines were provided.

Things done:
Washing – With low pressure water spray and air dried. Precaution was taken to cover the display area.
Engine oil and Oil filter replaced: The drained oil looked in pretty good shape. Honda throttle 10w30 fully synthetic oil was used. (This is the same oil which does duty on the CBR250R).
Chain cleaned, lubed and slack adjusted – Motul C1 and C2 was used. I felt the Motul lube is thicker than the 3M i use and indeed it was, almost no spray on the rear wheel but sticks to the chain perfectly.
Bike was given a Wax polish
All the nuts was tightened to specified torque.

Overall this has been the best service experience i have ever had, and the guys at Silicon Honda, Bangalore deserve a huge round of applause for this. First service bill was Rs3025 which i feel is very reasonable considering the attention the bike got.
Post the first service i felt the engine had become smoother and the slight buzz at 5-6k rpm had subsided by almost 90%.

Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

Bike - Triumph

Model - Bonneville SE

Year - 2014

I bought this bike with 7200 kms on the clock early this year and it had already been through 3 oil changes. The owner is a friend and cares for his machines obsessively.

The 10,000 kms service cost me around 15,000 bucks. Detailed breakup of costs is here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/superb...ml#post3996181

2nd Service Cost : Rs. 3200
Odometer Reading : 5300 kms
Breakup : Engine Oil change, Oil Filter change, Chain Cleaning and lubing

Other comments / Expenses Incurred : Will post breakup details when I get the bill.

Details:
As part of Second Service:
They changed the Oil and Oil Filter.
Cleaned the Chain and lubed it.
Checked brakes and Clutch and various other nuts
Air Filter requires change at 15K. They said they they will clean it in the next service at 12K.

and then the Full System Install.

All in all it took 3 hours for the whole process.

I don't have the detailed bill Yet, but high level I paid 5500 for both the service and the exhaust Install. 3100 for the service, 2000 for the exhaust install and 400 taxes. Will share the bill once I have it.

Pretty reasonable I would say considering the quality of work and time and attention given to your loved bike.

Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

Thanks for the updates everyone. Going through this thread, it seems that the Kawasaki is the highest and the Honda being the lowest. Is the low service cost of the CBR due to free service (labour) or lower costs of parts/liquids?
