Honda being inexpensive is partly due to free service I feel. 650f has 3 free services so expect bill around 3k till the 18k Kms service. And since it being a relatively new product, cost of wear and tear replacement parts are unknown. To give a perspective, Bengaluru has the highest number of CBR650f's (22) in India and among these the one with the highest on the odo has run 14k.

Yeah, I kind of agree. In the free service they are not charging labor.
From what I have understood, the labor for such a service should be around 2K. So these 3K service bills will be around 5K.

They had initially told me to expect 5-6K service bills. Still it is closer to cheapest, I think.

The benefits of no-city riding I guess!!

The total cost of the service came up-to Rs.6029.00 and this is the break-up:

Synthetic Engine Oil - Rs.1925.70
Drain Plug - Rs.36.68
Oil Filter - Rs.390.83
Service Cost - Rs.1920.00
Consumable charge - Rs.500.00
Vehicle Wash- Rs.480.00
VAT - Rs.341.22
S.Tax - Rs.435.00

I haven't been riding the Baron as much as I would have liked to for the past couple of months. So this weekend, to make up for all these weeks of lethargy, may see me and the Baron going on a day long solo ride to some new place, hopefully.

So as promised, here is the first service bill. Pretty reasonable I would say, given the fact that the next service is due only when the odo reads 15000.

I'd still go for an oil change by 8000 kms though (a couple of hundred kms away as of today) ;-)

Thanks,

V12, I think the odo reading at the service is incorrect since Shubz mentions he will change the oil again at 8000.

4000 for labor!! Thats double the labor cost that HD charges

You are wrong.

I am going for an oil change @ 8k voluntarily. This is not mandated or required though.

How can the Odo reading be incorrect sir? Pray enlighten me?

I meant the odo reading mentioned in the post Shubz, not on your multistrada The post mentions first service at ~8000, and you mention another oil change at 8000, hence.

Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

I am still confused about it but I believe ~8000 kms maybe his current reading and the first service was probably done much earlier ... probably at 4000-5000 kms. But will leave this to Shubz to clarify.

First Oil service is at 1000 kms on the Odo
Next service is Desmo Service @ 15000 on the Odo

The bill above was for the "First Oil service" that was done when the Odo reading was 1000 :-)

Now the reading on my Odo is approaching 8000. So I said I'd be voluntarily changing oil.

Hope that clarifies?

Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India-service-bill.jpg

The early service was because i will be going out to sea in a weeks time and will pass the "or 6 months since last service" before i return.

The oil, oil filter and the air filter were replaced at my request. As per the recommended schedule the oil drain interval is 12,000km which seems too long even if it is running fully synthetic oil and air filter change is not till the fourth service (18,000Km). the Air filter when it came out definely looked ready for the bin.

Not exactly a service cost but list of spares and prices for the Kawasaki Z800.

I would rather have to stay away from this deal. Attached the bill.

Team - Any suggestions on how to go about choosing a used bike are welcome, including but not limited to cases like online ads, no direct contact with the seller, no physical check and more over from a different state/location.
