Re: KTM 1050 Adventure: Headed to India!

Here are some images from the KTM stand at the Toronto Motorcycle show. I could get the toes and ball of the foot on the ground securely on both the bikes, but could not flatfoot them completely. However, that is enough to be able to ride the bikes easily:

The new 1290SA is expected to hit showrooms in the States sometime in April.

Hey avi you know my taste eh! Actually I have ruled out Triumph Tiger twins completely due to Triumph India fiasco and their handling of the issue. Coming back to the topic, this KTM 1050 looks promising and has that go anywhere nature. Meanwhile I am also eyeing the formidable Kawasaki Versys 1000. I am gonna research hard before plonking in that kind of money on an adventure bike.

One always wants more bro. Now owning a 390 that can theoretically go over 170, I have begun wondering how nice it would be to have a bike that can do over 200 in similar theoretical circumstances. Not that we should ever attempt to do such speeds on public roads.

Its not just the power and the cost, but also the bulk and the weight (not to mention height) which comes with these big adventures that can be a bit off-putting. The 690 in the flesh is barely a bit bulkier and bigger than our 390s. With 30 more bhp ....

Droolworthy. But sadly, I am sure they will be priced too high - out of reach of most people who are interested in such a bike. But one can continue dreaming, can't he?

Re: KTM 1050 Adventure: Headed to India!

I think anything over 600cc is an overkill for India, touring or not, but of course this doesn't mean there won't be buyers who like to have it parked in their home.

KTM 1290 Super Adventure has made it to our shore for 'type approval' which as per my understanding is tantamount to homologation. Change of plans?
