Good to hear you're back on the Z again. Hope you've completely recovered and back to 100% on the health meter.
Z or the Vada Pav - I'll take the Vada Pav :p
Ironhawk,
Thats an OmlettePav by the way :) and yes, Allen is back to good health.
Cheers,
Raj
With a very heavy (and practical) heart, I have to say that I have decided to set Godzilla free (not literally, for a price though) lol:
You may have seen my interest in Avi's Versys thread in the last one month. During the last month when I was struck with dengue - it gave me some time to think over the Z. I realised that I loved the bike but wasn't doing justice to her. In the last couple of months I would have barely ridden even 500 kms. Thought a lot during the last month and finally decided to sell it and buy something more comfortable that I can atleast use on the weekends.
So let's see, once the confusion over the Bajaj-Kawasaki split is cleared - will decide on the Versys 650.

And if that's not all, I installed new spools onto the Z. These are made by someone in Bangalore and are of excellent quality. I have also ordered a jack which has been made by him. Haven't used the jack yet but will post a small review once I have done so.

These look really nice!! Can you share the details from whom you got these made in Bangalore?
Really sad to know about letting the Godzilla free news. I really find your Z as one of the tastefully done one's. Let me spread the news in my surroundings. :D
Thank you
Thanks for the kind words Rachit :) The spool sliders are actually meant for the Versys but they fit directly onto the Z. The only problem is that the bolt size (as in length) is long and the spools do not touch the swing arm (and there is some play). So I had to add in a nut to keep it tight. But worth the money seriously - 500 for the jack and 600 for the spool sliders.

Also, waiting for me at home was this beautiful contraption that was developed by a fellow V owner. It's a simple and sweet equipment to clean and lube your chain and is quite small so portable Attachment 1591891
A video that explains how this Jack and Spool works !! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJdtE2O_qUg |

Glad to know my thread helped you decide on the Versys:thumbs up
Be assured it is a bike you will throughly enjoy owning and riding not just for long distances but, also around the corner
Since you dont ride the bike at a clip nor regularly, it is a wise decision to let go of the Z

That was quick... I was planning to get the Godzilla myself but before I could sort some of my finances, you have picked it up.
Congrats and happy mile munching.

Damn! Sad to see the bike go Allen, I'm sure it was a tough decision.
Had I been in Bombay, you'd have had a bidding war my friend.

Some additional info for anyone considering these spools for the z800.- The Z needs shorter spools on the right to clear the exhaust. If you have a stock exhaust and use these spools(or almost all generic spools in the market) the bottom inner portion of the exhaust will definitely take a bad hit. It would also mean that the rear suspension travel will be limited till the spool either bends or digs into the exhaust completely. Ask me how I know! :)
Cheers!
Met Amit today and checked out the bike. Its what condition is all about!
Didn't like the sound of the exhaust though with the suppressor in. Sounds choked.
"The Bird Has Flown"
So I am now left with only the RX100 and a completely blank mind to think about "What Next". I do have plans for the Versys 650 - but am keeping the plans on hold for the time being (a few months) after considering the following :
1. The V650's available now are all 2016 manufactured.
2. The 2017 manufactured model will be available only in / after the 2nd quarter.
3. The upgraded 2017 model (with the revised graphics and gear indicator) will be available after the first half of the year.
4. The newly launched Ninja 650 / ER-6N (now Z650) at the 2016 EICMA show indicates that similar upgrades will be passed onto the Versys 650 this year.
So considering all of the above options, I feel it would be a good idea to wait for a few months and then decide whether I would need to go for the 2017 Versys or any alternative that comes up.
Till then will need to get something exciting for daily office use. Will update this thread when I do so.
Until then - Mods - I think this thread can now be locked.
Thank you everyone for all your help during my ownership period. Take care and Ride Safe!
