Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom launched at Rs. 8.90 lakh

Harley-Davidson India has launched the 1200 Custom at a price of Rs. 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike will be assembled at the company’s Bawal, Haryana facility, expanding Harley-Davidson India’s CKD model portfolio to eight out of thirteen motorcycles.

The motorcycle falls into Harley-Davidson's Sportster family and is powered by a 1.2L, air-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that makes 96 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm with the grunt channelled to the rear wheel through a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Its feature list includes a black powder-coated engine with chrome treatment covers, steel laced wheels, a bulky front-end design, a chrome headlight 'eyebrow', an LED taillight and a two-up custom seat. The bike also gets a pull-back handlebar and forward-mounted rider foot controls for a cruiser-like riding position.

The 1200 Custom also gets a handlebar-mounted electronic speedometer with an odometer, two trip meters, a low fuel warning light, low oil pressure light, engine diagnostics readout, LED indicator lights, gear indicator (1-5), and a tachometer.

The 1200 Custom will retail through Harley-Davidson's 20 dealerships in India and bookings have been opened.

Talk about filling gaps and making acquisitions more fulfilling!
Harley Davidson India has clearly attempted at filling the gap caused by the exit of the Superlow with a more fulfilling, read more powerful 1200 Custom as it offers a more fulfilling upgrade for someone upgrading from the Street 750 and looking to remain in the HOG scheme of things.
However, the Custom 1200 is priced a full segment above the very competitively priced Superlow and I'm not sure what positive impact the Superlow's exit would have on the overall volumes.

A few laks more wont we get our hands on that bigger street bob which comes with that stonking big engine, ABS, bigger wheels and overall a better bike for the money

I always thought the cheapest 1690 engine appears to be the best VFM in the current pricing of things.

After 750 one should save up to go to the 1690 series atleast per my liking.

Don't see any news on the Custom 1200. Did anyone book or has any feedback on the bike?
