Re: Suzuki starts local assembly of Hayabusa. Price - Rs. 13.57 lakh

Suzuki has announced that it has started assembling the Hayabusa superbike in India.

CKD kits of the Hayabusa will be imported and assembled at the same factory in Gurgaon where the entire Suzuki India two-wheeler line-up is manufactured. The specifications of the motorcycle will remain the same as the CBU (completely built up) model, which has been imported from Japan all these years.

The Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. It has disc brakes all-round (twin front discs + a single rear disc) with ABS and rides on 17-inch wheels.

Locally assembled vehicles attract less duty when compared to direct imports. This step to start assembly of the Hayabusa from CKD kits has brought the bike's price down from Rs. 16 lakh (approximately) to Rs. 13,57,150 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The CKD Hayabusa is cheaper than the Ducati 959 Panigale in India!

So I guess I made a good decision by selling my old Busa last week
Pre owned prices are going to crash!

Very good news. Hope Suzuki might consider assembling Gixxer super bike in India which might bring down prices to around 10L.

Now Kawasaki might think of assembling big bikes in india.

This thing is up for replacement in the global scheme of things. Hopefully 2017 should see a Gen 3.
In the meantime this becomes a great proposition for upgraders/first time buyers. The prices are similar to what they had way back in 2011.

Absolutely. GSX S1000 F and GSX S1000 need to be locally assembled and 10 lakh sticker price is very good considering what's on offer and the practicality of the bike.

A start in the right direction. If they can localize about 20-30%, nothing like it.

Re: Suzuki starts local assembly of Hayabusa. Price - Rs. 13.57 lakh

Maybe this is a smart move to clear up the manufactured stocks of parts before the 2017 model comes in! In any way this is a good choice now for superbike buyers but a very bad news for those who purchased the bike for 18.40 OTR Pune
Year old bikes sell for around 15.50 lakhs and now the new one for 15.80 is bad news for Busa owners.

Well as Viju had posted earlier, the new model is expected only in 2018/19. So there is still lot of time left before the current model is discontinued. Also, the article states that they have started a separate assembly line for the Busa, so they won't stop it once the new model is launched. So this is a good move in the right direction

On the current owners losing value, well nothing much can be done about it. Shit happens

This is a welcome move. I wish yamaha takes a cue from this on MT09 and make the on road price at around 9l than their current high price.

Thanks Suzuki for atleast reducing the cost by taking this route.

Great Move. Can any owners throw some light on the fact whether this bike is comfortable as 'Sports Tourer' or is it limited to only track/local use as a 'Super Sports' bike in which it is categorised?

Personally I have no experience since I myself am new to biking, but my uncle has always been into biking and he always maintained that the Busa is an extremely versatile bike. It offers great near superbike levels of handling, whopping levels of grunt, but is also comfy with a low seat, stable and easy to cruise long distances on

I have used this bike for 3k kms in Pune. It is a great bike but the weight and power is a little too much to handle for the city, it isn't as nimble as a gsxr1000 or other litre class bikes but it is extremely comfortable on highways! Can be a great bike for touring straights but a pain to maneuver in crowded areas.

Re: Suzuki starts local assembly of Hayabusa. Price - Rs. 13.57 lakh

Have covered over 30,000 kms on this thing. Have a 2011 Gen 2 but also had a 05 Gen 1 prior to that.
I do extensive sports touring ( 900+ kms a day) and this thing is tailor made for it. The saddle is spacious, the leg room acceptable and the riding posture not to extreme. What makes this a great buy is the extensive after market support there is. You can practically change anything and everything on this bike to suit your need. Brakes, suspension, motor, rear end you name it and there is part for it.
As a track bike yes it will not hold a candle next to a zx10r or a 1000rr but with a few clicks on the suspension and some minor mods it becomes a respectable track bike. Also it is highly likely that the skill of the rider will run out far sooner the bikes capabilities.
Overall, this is one of the finest motorcycles money can buy.
