re: Honda imports Africa Twin (CRF1000D) motorcycle. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 12.90 lakhs

Rumor mill again on spin, says booking open in April and deliveries by May - June. If Honda (for a change) prices this bike competitively (at about Tiger Xr model prices), then it would really see some numbers too

One chat even mentioned Delhi Ex 12.6 to 13.8 L

Rumor at best, confirmed directly from the source that floated it in the first place... There is no news at the moment. Expected ex showroom price remains 16l for the autobox.

Rumour: Honda to launch Africa Twin in India in July 2017

Media reports suggest that Honda might launch its Africa Twin adventure touring motorcycle in India in the month of July 2017. While the automaker had earlier confirmed its plans to bring the bike to the country, no specific launch window has been officially revealed yet.

The July rumours gather steam and taxation will be seen at Ex-showroom X 1.09 for CKD bikes.

This means that the bike with its stated 16L price will be about 16X1.09 = 18L on road. (rounded off numbers)

V Strom, my friend, where are you?

Where are you guys getting your 16 lakh ex showroom quotes from? A rough estimate in my mind can come up somewhere between 12-14 lakh ex showroom since its only offered in DCT.

Long term Servicing costs will be lower than the big b.

Japanese reliability over the German any day, any place, any time. Hondas are the best out of all the japs by a mile.

However, its only the really well informed motorcyclist who will choose the africa twin over the 1200.

That said, in dct guise, even a proper motorcyclist will not touch it by a bargepole, great reviews on the dct notwithstanding. I dont think honda even cares. They sold all their left over navi, now thats more important.

re: Honda imports Africa Twin (CRF1000D) motorcycle. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 12.90 lakhs

Ok guys its confirmed, HMSI has officially lost the plot!

Since I’m in regular touch with them and have been inquiring about the Africa Twin, I got a call saying they are accepting bookings on a first come first served basis. Deliveries to start in July 2017. Expected on road price 15-15.5 lacs Mumbai.

What really made me think HMSI is going bonkers is when I was told there is no display bike. And if I cancel booking after paying booking amount of 1Lac, then I will be charged a penalty of 25% which is 25000/-

So, no display bike? No surety on price? No delivery date? And penalty on cancellation? At least show me the bike and then claim a penalty on the cancellation. They not even showing me the bike to sit and get a feel, and then say cancellation fee 25%? All other manufacturers of cars as well as bikes have a 100% refund policy on cancellation of bookings. Let’s not forget how late they are in entering the ADV segment. Let’s not forget it’s a DCT so first instinct is to be cautious as not many people in India are familiar with DCT. So shouldn’t they be going all out to push numbers? 25% cancellation is unheard of.

Strange!

Wow!! That is indeed good pricing, if it is true. I believe this is the right price for the bike if Honda intends to sell it. This price puts it right in the middle of the Triumphs and much lower than the BMW and Ducati.
Actually its relatively affordable price is the USP of the bike abroad as it undercuts nearly every bike in the segment. Plus Honda is a sort of no frills bike, except for the DCT Transmission, so 12.9 is a good price in my opinion. Keeping fingers crossed and hoping this is true.

And here's another source confirming about the launch. Bookings are open for first 50 customers and lucky chaps might get invitation to attend the grand launch outdoor event organized by Honda.

Very good pricing, so can we expect the manual version around 11- 11.5 lacs mark if it is launched at a later stage.
