Ducati 1299 Superleggera launched in India at Rs 1.12 crore

Quote:
Ducati India showrooms are now accepting bookings for the 1299 Superleggera. The motorcycle is priced at a jaw-dropping Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Yes, that is a lot of money for a motorcycle. However, the specifications of the Ducati 1299 Superleggera are equally jaw-dropping.

This exotic Ducati is the first production motorcycle to get a carbon-fibre swingarm, monocoque frame, fairing and wheels. The engine and the fuel tank get aluminium and titanium bits to keep the overall weight as low as possible. Even the screws are of titanium and this restricted the kerb weight of the 1299 Superleggera to just 167 kilograms.

The Ducati 1299 Superleggera is powered by a 1,285cc L-twin Superquadro engine that makes 215PS and 146.5Nm of torque. This is the most powerful twin-cylinder engine manufactured by Ducati on a production motorcycle. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which gets a quickshifter. To allow the rider to exploit the power, it comes equipped with Bosch Cornering ABS system, Ducati Slide Control, Ducati Power Launch and a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU) combined with Ducati Traction Control.

Re: Ducati 1299 Superleggera launched in India at Rs 1.12 crore

That bike is Insanity mixed with monstrosity with a dash of evil thrown in for good measure. Probably closest to the WSBK spec as a street-legal machine can get. For mere mortals like us it will always be star in the sky, out of reach. Would love to see this participate in the auto shoot-outs done by various mags and blogs and being pit against the likes of the R1M, ZX10RR and the H2R to begin with. Not that the former two stand a chance but maybe, just maybe the H2R can give it a run for its money (at 70% of the price, talk about VFM ).

Just a question now of which city's rich boys get the first one in the country.

Well Delhi has some extravagant toys as well, Big Dog and Boss Hoss.

Mumbai has the Y2K MTT and Ranchi has a Conferderate Hellcat X132.

These examples are even more unobtainium that the Bangalore 1199 Panigale R.

Plus I am guessing there must be a few H2R's as well in the country. At 70-80 lakhs OTR, the H2R is another extravagant toy !

I dont think there are any H2Rs in India. Few H2s = yes. Doubt Ducati might be able to sell more than one if at all.

There are no H2Rs in India, not that I have heard of anyway. Who wants a porky track only bike in India where the only decent track for it to stretch its leg is in Delhi?

H2s on the other hand, there's a few scattered across the country.

You might find a rich enough buyer for this bike here aswell.

PowerDrift came up with this stonker of a video! I don't mind saying their superbike-test videos are as good as MCN or other international channels. Check out

If I remember correctly the Y2K was a carnet. And there is no H2R in India. Also, the Superleggera is road legal hope that should help its chances. But I still strictly doubt it. If there was one coming Ducati India would have announced it already. They are pretty active on social media,

I was lucky enough to see this being assembled at the Ducati Factory in Bologna last month and boy is it special. I think it's one of the most beautiful looking superbikes I've ever seen. Especially with that exhaust and special (orangish) RED colour that Ducati only uses for special models (previously Desmosedici RR) The Superleggera is assembled on the same production line as the panigale with different components, its such a shame they don't allow pictures inside. Magnesium, Titanium and Carbon Fiber has never come together so beautifully. These things will surely shoot up in value in the years to come especially with stricter emission norms.

Bonus Pics (trying to show off the Red colour I mentioned)

Yeah I heard it will join the HP4, Panigale and other exotics. And knowing him this will only be used on the track like his other bikes.
