Rumour: 2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 to be launched in September 2017

If recent media reports are to be believed, then Suzuki might launch the 2018 V-Strom 1000 in September 2017. The 2018 model comes with minor changes mostly in the styling department, including a 3-way adjustable windscreen and a few new colour options.

Other updates include a Bosch-sourced motion track braking system that works with the ABS for more effective braking performance, cornering ABS, easy-start system with low-rpm assist function and a combined braking system. The V-Strom doesn't get ride-by-wire unlike some of the other bikes in its segment.

The 2018 V-Strom 1000 retains the same 1,037 cc, 90-degree v-twin cylinder engine. The BS4-compliant, liquid-cooled motor pushes out 98 BHP and 103 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The adventure bike with its upright riding position gets inverted telescopic shocks with coil springs at the front and a link type setup with oil damped coil springs at the rear. The 19-inch front wheels come wrapped in 110/80 R19 tyres while the rear are 17-inchers, shrouded in 150/70 R17 tyres.

The 2018 V-Strom 1000 comes in two versions - standard and XT. It has been reported that Suzuki is more likely to launch the V-Strom 1000XT in India. While, official pricing is yet to be announced, it could be priced slightly above the outgoing model which costs Rs. 13.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Nice to see Suzuki getting aggressive and launching their products one after the other this year.

They should have released the 2017 V-Storm 650 first instead of this model at prices compared to a Versys 650 and they would have tasted much bigger success.

1 Liter engines in a relatively unknown brand (Indian perspective as everyone knows Kawasaki, Triumph, Ducati, Harleys in India but, Suzuki's have never made that mark in big bike category) and people will think twice to put in their money. Well, that's just my assumption and hope they do well as I understand it's a great product

I have the good fortune to ride the sibling of this monster internationally next week

agreed; I also believe Suzuki should launch 650 before the 1000, to test the waters & establish themselves in this segment. Also we have the 250 in the queue, Im sure there is a market for it too.

Suzuki missed the boat long back as they had a sure winner with the DL650 if they had launched it with proper after sales support. They could have started the assembly of this bike long before the Hayabusa. Even now I am not sure how well they will handle the after sales support coz they have sold very few DL1000 so far and while those are very reliable bikes, Indian market has more potential for the 650 variety but Suzuki India seems concentrating more on their sports bikes.

Eagerly waiting your updates on the Suzuki ride! So thats where you are travelling to.....

This will make no difference to the already non existent numbers given the final price of 14+lacs OTR. Its a good bike alright and has been around for 2-3yrs but nothing that makes you spend this kind of money!!!

The vstrom 650 is a globally acclaimed bike and if available at the same price point as the versys 650, would have been my choice. However, i dont see zuki venturing below the litre class any time soon. I see honda waking up however, but still drowsy.

Brand HAYABUSA is much much bigger than brand SUZUKI.

I won't be surprised if an Indian child/boy/man can identify a Hayabusa but be completely unaware that it's a Suzuki!!!

Spot on! This is a fact and there is no two ways about it. I will not be surprised if majority people didn't know that Hayabusa is from Suzuki stable

Most common people ask if its from Maruti Suzuki.

Bangalore showroom doesn't give testrides also for any of the bigger bikes. Not even a short one. Forget test rides, a BHPian friend who visited the Bangalore showroom was asked not to touch the display bike. Needless to say - he walked out with this wife leading the way.

Wonder how they are selling such bikes at all, except for the Busa.
