Triumph Speedmaster cruiser unveiled

Triumph Speedmaster cruiser unveiled

Quote:
The new Speedmaster uses the Bobber's 1200cc ‘High-Torque' version of the new Bonnie engine, in the same state of tuning and producing the same peak figures of 106Nm at 4,000rpm. The 1200cc parallel twin, liquid cooled unit produces 76bhp at 6,100rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and also gets a torque-assisted clutch for quicker gearshifts.
The Speedmaster is based on Bobber, but there are differences. The Speedmaster gets a 310mm twin-disc brake setup at the front along with a slightly fatter tyre as well. Standard features on the new Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster are the ride-by-wire, switchable traction control, ABS, two riding modes (road and rain), cruise control and a full LED headlamp with a DRL.
There two accessories kit on offer: 'Highway kit' and the 'Maverick kit.' The highway kit receives a full set of soft-luggage panniers while the maverick kit receives a single seat and raked out bars for that laid-back look.

Re: Triumph Speedmaster cruiser unveiled

I love the butch looks of the massive engine and fat tires but I am disappointed with the low ground clearance of the (almost) entire range of the triumph bikes with the Tigers as an exception.

This would qualify as a very comfortable tourer for two-up riding although one has to be careful to crawl over speed humps to avoid the bike bottoming out.

The Bonneville's have a very heavy clutch and looks like this one inherits the same "feel" as well, going by the looks.

Looks good, but I have my doubts on the pillion comfort. Looks to be based on the Bobber and the rear seat looks to be mounted way far from the suspension.

Looks very good though. Looks much better than the Harley Street Range IMO. Doesn't look like an entry level bike in the range.

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster launch on February 27, 2018

Triumph Speedmaster cruiser unveiled-speedmaster1.jpg

In November 2017, Triumph unveiled the Bonneville Speedmaster at the India Bike Week. Triumph is now expected to launch the bike in India on February 27, 2018.

The Bonneville Speedmaster is based on a tubular steel cradle frame. It has a wheelbase of 1,510 mm and its seat height is 705 mm. The bike weighs 245.5 kg and comes with a 12-litre fuel tank. The Speedmaster rides on KYB 41 mm front fork and it has a monoshock rear setup.

In terms of styling, the Speedmaster is based on the Bonneville Bobber and features a circular LED headlight, twin slash-cut exhausts finished in chrome and a unique rear wheel hub. It has swept back handlebars, dual-tone fuel tank and a stepped seat.

The Bonneville Speedmaster is powered by a 1,200 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine. It produces 76 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 106 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a torque-assist clutch. It comes with two riding modes - road and rain. Twin 310-mm discs in the front with 2-piston calipers and a single 255-mm disc in the rear paired with a single-piston caliper handle the braking duties.

The Speedmaster comes equipped with a multi-functional LCD display, ABS, traction control, cruise control, engine immobilizer, ride-by-wire among other features.

Wow! What a looker Triumph has got there! With those beefy tire, the bike looks completely gangster. I’m in love with those wide handlebars as well, something that has been missing in the recent launches I’m not wrong.

Re: Triumph Speedmaster cruiser unveiled

Price and like I mentioned earlier - the suspension comfort remains to be seen. Bobber had a hard suspension.

Speedmaster range costs 10% more than Bobber range in the UK - so it should cost around 10.6L onwards here. That should put it right between the Harley 1200 Custom and the 1745cc Street Bob.

Re: Triumph Speedmaster cruiser unveiled

A bit optimistic?

Not sure if this Speedmaster has the presence and torque to compete with the Harley Street Bob which is the closest competition in terms of price.

Also costs a good 2L ex showroom above the Bobber it is based on.
