First priority is to get the first service done at 1k mark. If by long ride you meant something in the 500~1000+ km range, not very soon. There is a great Kawasaki ride planned in Rajasthan in November end with riders coming from across India but that is clashing with my IBW dates for which I am already booked. So sadly I will be missing that which many of my fellow Ninja1000 Owners are attending. But soon, very soon, is all I can say for now. But I do have bigger plans for the bike, hopefully by next year. Only thorn in the flesh being the Myanmar road and entry conditions/restrictions, which hopefully will ease out, at least for us Indians, by next year.

Cheers...

Re: 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 - The Comprehensive Review

Looks like the only main limiting factor is the number of kits imported by Kawasaki. They are selling all the new 1000s that they can make.

I'm more curious to know about the rider profiles. Is there a pattern emerging - people upgrading from any particular segment for example? Perhaps the Ninja 650 and the likes?

Within the Versys groups - I feel the single biggest customer base is the Royal Enfield owners who were looking at expanding their touring abilities.

I doubt there are any mates upgrading from the REs here. Those guys mostly go towards the Harley Sportsters first and then mature onto this bike. Neither are they first time bikers. Most have already owned/are owning other big/super bikes like Harley, Ducati, Triumph etc. There are a few existing owners of the Ninja 650, and one who also own a very well maintained KB 100, adding this one to the garage without selling the 650. BTW I also owned one of the very first KB 100s in blue in my younger days. I see a few coming from the Harley Sportster and they feel the difference is chalk and cheese. Most are in their 30's and 40`s and have matured onto this bike. I don't see any teenagers here. I was contacted by a few but I pushed them towards the Z 900s. But one thing common I see is that all of us want to do some Sports Touring on a bulletproof tension free machine and see tremendous value in the overall package this bike offers. So it is fitting it's tag of the 'Gentleman's Sports Bike' for now.

Cheers...

PS - color preference is 14 Green to 7 Black

Well sir yes you are right i have owned a royal enfield bullet electra 350 2006 and riden it for over 50 k kms and finally when i had the itch i upgraded to this beast of a machine. Its got nothing to do with touring in my case, i did not buy the electra to tour but yes there was character in that bike and i feel there is something here that i relate to..!

Bike crosses 600 kms. Stretched to 6k rpm in short bursts and that is the limit for now till break-in completes. Still in Low Power mode and traction control at 2. The bike corners beautifully at triple digit speeds.

The first MY18 Blacks start delivering all over India. This is the first one delivered yesterday at Delhi. Note the red stripes on the wheels.

Looks more compact compared to the green, where the silver accents accentuates the sharpness of the beak towards the front.

There was one delivered in Hyderabad a couple of weeks back. I had posted the video log by Dino's vault in the other main thread.

Kawasaki Hyderabad is on a roll and they are delivering almost one bike each day.

They have started a new trend of posting a picture of every bike they are delivering on their Facebook page starting right from Ninja 300 onwards till their top-end models (Getting tired of their notifications and plan to remove it)

https://www.facebook.com/kawasaki.hyd.3

According to their page, they delivered the first MY18 Black Ninja 1000 on Oct 16th, 2017

Smog is really a serious issue in Delhi/NCR and I understand from some surveys that it is 4 times higher than most cities in south. We are blessed to have cleaner air to breathe

Should I get along a gas mask OR even better carry my riding suit and helmet to escape pollution when I am there over this weekend?

But seriously, you should! Pollution is playing havoc in the entire Delhi NCR - Haryana - Punjab - West UP area due to crop burning and allied reasons. PM 2.5 is above a 1000.

Custom Straps for Rynox Optimus Tail Bag

The good people at Team Rynox today sent me the complimentary custom straps with high quality velcro for attaching the tank/tail bag to the rear seat of the Ninja 1000 as a Tail Bag. The straps that I had got made were not of the required parameters to take the load of high speed riding. They also sent me a complimentary Rain Cover which had got dilapidated on my last Leh Trip. A Big Shout out for the after sales support of Team Rynox!

The custom straps (approx 27" and 23" in length with 6" velcro on each sides) and the Rain Cover

Very easy and secure fit. Takes less than 2 minutes

Tail Bag now firmly attached

With the new rain cover attached. Will be ideal for short 2-3 night overnighter.
2018 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 - The Comprehensive Review-20171108-rynox-tail-bag-custom-straps-received_4.jpg

Should be aerodynamically secure behind the rider at high speeds.

Even at the unexpanded position, it has plenty of space and pockets on the sides and the top for storage

Kawasaki starts Service Vans for outstation customers. A friend getting his Ninja 1000's 1st Service at Nagpur from Hyderabad dealership. Total cost of 1st service was around 5000/- including GST. Ninja 1000 Owners have also got their 1st service done at Hyderabad for as less as 4000/- due to lesser number of job works as Kawasaki is now charging on each work carried out basis. For example, just a oil change is 300/- + GST and Oil Filter change is again 300/- +GST. And best of all NO transportation charges, which was very surprising. A similar service van is coming soon to the Delhi dealership.

Kawasaki is also getting very proactive about any product or service complaints. I will share a incident shortly.

Cheers...
