re: Kawasaki Z900 RS (W800 replacement), now launched at 16.47 lakhs

Any inside new on when will the Z900RS be launched in India and at what price?
Going by history, kawi releases the most common or boring colours in India if the model has colour variants in international market. Mostly its around their signature kawi lime green, but when versys was launched, they had some interesting options in white and a few more options. They went for the safer black for India, as for that year lime green was not an option. 2017 versys had some green stickering job over black. Personally i like the Z900rs in matt green with black combo, this white and green with that tank design looks killer too.

When I checked 2 weeks back at Anzen, I was told it would be around 13-14 lakhs ex-showroom. The sales guy there didn't seem too interested - so didn't ask for more details.

I don't think it will launch at that price. The sales guy probably wanted to get rid of your pesky snooping around for good and go home early to his girl friend

It will be cheaper than the Ninja 1k, and more expensive than the Z900. Sandwiched right in between, maybe an ex-showroom of about 9.5L or a bit under.

When Anzen announced bookings - they sent a Whatsapp message stating Ex-showroom MH 10-11 lakhs MAX.

Black is the cheapest varaint internationally. The orange and black signature colour is the most expensive. I feel we might get one of these colours depending on their pricing strategy. If its CBU and premium - we might get the signature colour. If its SKD and aggressively priced - we might get only the black.

If you follow last years Z900 trajectory, launch in EICMA in November, available in South east Asia by December. Available in the western market by February/March. Kawasaki India announced India availability in Feb 2017. The first bikes were delivered in the first week of June. Kawasaki broke up with Bajaj and had the added challenge of getting new spaces up and ready in 2017. If Kawasaki launches in India, the first deliveries can be anywhere from March to June.

Cheers

Now that Vulcan is out of the way, can we expect the launch of Z900RS soon? Any insider news?
Another concern apart from standard seat height is the ground clearance of 130mm. Will surely scrape a lot of speed breakers. :(

They should have launched the Z900RS before or at the same time as the Vulcan. I have a feeling Vulcan will be the least popular offering from Kawasaki

It will most definitely scrape the bumps like your Bonnie does. Wonder why they dont factor this important point when making these bikes

Because these bikes are designed for the markets where handling takes top priority and bad road conditions are unheard of!

Their adventure bikes are more suited for our normal road conditions.

Bonnie manages the bumps just fine - at least the pune bumps. I have been using it for 70kms commute occassionally through the heavy pune traffic and it survives just fine. But when it comes to some bumps that seem to be specially designed oddly to break suspensions and not just speeds, you have to really slow down else it bottoms out. Thankfully, such examples are only a couple on my route and on everything else, it glides over.

Yday when i was visiting the Kawasaki pune showroom, i was informed that they will get the Vulcan on display in 10-12days and plan to have a small launch locally. Will be interesting to see how the Vulcan fares in this respect.

No firm news on Z900 though. Sadly, cause i would have loved to get one!

OT - And boy the Z1000 is one mean looking machine (though pointless since the Z900 offers everything for less). And the new Ninja 650 looks completely spot on - the new front from its elder siblings will definitely rake in addiotional sales. The whole showroom was lime green and blinding They stopped the matte black and the sales guy said thats coz its the MY16 colour! I dont even know what logic that is. Cmon kawasaki - we love the official colours but not everyone wants it on their bike!

Waiting patiently.
And True for Vulcan. There is nothing much going in its favour except the decent price and jap reliability. Its heavy, less on power compared to its siblings like ninja 650, versys 650 etc and will find tough competing with likes of entry level Harleys which have a strong 'brand image' going in its favor when it comes to cruisers. The current Kawasaki service and spares condition does not help the case either.

Lucky you!! Here in Bangalore it scrapes 30 percent of speed barkers or so i think. Things have improved after i have replaced the OEM socks with Paolis from continental GT which is resulted in increased GC and helps a lot.

And their adventure bikes are taller as well for average Indian. I lowered my versys using lowering kit from motowerk which resulted in reduced GC and stiffer rear shock. Now even my versys scrapes some of the tall speed breakers if i am not careful.

AutoCar India expects the Z900 RS to be displayed at the Auto Expo.

The Z900RS will be present at the Expo and will also be launched in India – perhaps at the Expo, perhaps later.

re: Kawasaki Z900 RS (W800 replacement), now launched at 16.47 lakhs

So far no news on the 900RS on the first day of expo. Hope they reveal it today and also a lunch with price and date would be icing on the cake. Waiting.
And in my more or less clear plan of 900rs, the relatively new triumph street scrambler is causing some disturbances. I have always had a soft corner for triumph, and the more i read on the SS, the more it seem to tick my checklist, and i like it. I guess the Z900 pricing would play a critical part.

More hopeful because of the tax breaks announced today. Z900 was a CBU and probably 900RS should have been too.

Hence the prices should come down, which, hopefully will force Kawasaki to prioritize Z900RS over Ninja 400 as the next launch. The 400 was always going to be expensive and the prices on CKDs will be even more now.
