Re: 2018 Honda CBR650F : Ownership Review

I wanted the rumble of an in-line 4..for a faired option, I would need to go with a ninja 650 but that’s a twin cylinder option. The CBR would still have been my first option but I’ve been waiting since May last year and don’t want to wait 6 more months for a launch. Delivery might take longer. Also, TBH fed up of being taken for granted by Honda. Got a lot more favourable approach from Kawasaki.

Have you even looked at the market?

In that price you can get most any 1000 cc rocket or the grand daddy of them all, the Hayabusa. Few years old and in very good condition. All of them faired and at top of the hill.

The used market has matured so much in India over the past few years, unless you looking for something very rare like the RC8 everything is out there to purchase.

Pardon my ignorance. Is there anything in particular you could recommend that I should be looking at?

Additionally I don’t know enough to verify the condition of a bike. I’m assuming someone like Droom would help with an evaluation.

Was referring to the new bikes in this case.

I cant possibly recommend a bike for you. You will have to take that call keeping your requirement in place.

What I can do though is, give my views on a particular bike after you've shortlisted /test ridden them.

Also, personally I do not like to base my decision solely on the estimation of a commercial third party. Either I would take someone along who has a better understanding of used bikes or stick to new. Too many people burn their hands if proper back ground check is not done.

I read somewhere they sold the last hayabusa. However, considering that I want to use the bike as my sole 2-wheeler, I think something I can use every day is what I need. Keeping that in mind, I personally do not like the Suzuki or Yamaha models available. Similar preference clashes with the adventure bikes. I am discounting the Harleys due to their heating issues. That probably leaves the Ninja which I mentioned earlier (2 cylinder vs an inline 4)..And I am very leery of spending more than 10L on a bike. I think that leaves me with the Z900. Am I missing anything? Thanks for your time in advance.

If you consider a used bike then a lot more options are available. A ninja 1000 is also an option if you go used. The Ninja 1000 is a better option if you wish to ride long distances. For shorter distances and riding in traffic the Z900 is easier to live with. If you wish to save money you can consider a used Z800 as well. If you don't mind a there cylinder bike you can look at a used street triple 675. Lots of options but you will have to search a bit. Even a used Honda 650r if you find one available

Re: 2018 Honda CBR650F : Ownership Review

The ownership experience of owning this bike more than makes up for the extremely poor sales experience. Right from service cost to using bike itself. I was wary of using it daily as an everyday bike, but once I sold my RC390 and started using it daily it has now become my everyday bike. Really easy to live with in traffic while commuting. The black color also helps it stay low keep and not draw too much attention.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind of that. However it’s not available at all with no timelines in sight as well right.

Just have to wait I guess. COVID19 will for sure delay any plans they might have had in the pipeline.

People are waiting from a long time and before Covid19 itself, people at Honda didn't have a timeline of when they will launch it. Now, they will have even less of an idea. It's fine to wait but there should be an end date. We can't wait forever.

Re: 2018 Honda CBR650F : Ownership Review

Hi guys,

Can we use 8AH Amaron or Exide battery for the CBR 650F? This costs 1/3rd of the cost of batteries like Varta/Yuasa. Crank1 available at 7K.

But I was considering Amaron and Exide as an option. Anyone using these on their big bikes? Kindly let know.

Thanks

Re: 2018 Honda CBR650F : Ownership Review

@BoltThrower: I seem to have picked up your bike . Was in the market for a replacement for my Ninja650 and came across your bike via a dealer. I went thru your thread during my research over the last 3-4 months but didn't make the connection till after I bought the bike.

Have been using it for the last 1 week and must say that the exhaust is LOUD. Had a few more queries about the bike, could you share your contact number or email? I unfortunately, don't have the rights to PM.
