Most of the bulbs are shared common between Kawasaki bikes.

1. Yes, you will need a LED compatible Flasher. Go for this one which worked perfectly on my bike -

2. Pilot Lights bulbs and Number Plate bulb should be a T10 (W5W) bulb. I got this at my local store for 30 bucks. Refer to my thread for pictures. Or you can go for something similar from AliExpress - http://s.aliexpress.com/jIJRbAfU

3. You can go for these abovementioned same bulbs in yellow (amber) for Rear Indicator Bulbs or these ones in slightly better quality -

4. Front Indicator Bulbs - http://s.aliexpress.com/ZZJvyyiA

5. LED Headlight Bulb - Some slight manipulation and cutting of rubber boot may be required to fit the bulb properly, which I don't think is a big deal. Here's one set of good instructions for your bike - http://eyesopen.org/2017/installing-...aki-versys-650
Here's some high quality H7 bulbs you can go for with inbuilt heat sink and fan -

Or
http://s.aliexpress.com/b6rqIzmQ

You can also go for these specialised sealing covers for these bulbs so you can replace your rubber boots with these - http://s.aliexpress.com/Uf2QF3Yv

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much Dkaile Sir! Ordered the Flasher unit, front and rear indicator bulbs. A stupid question - do the front and rear indicator use different types of bulbs? Asking because the ones in the link looked different for the front and rear.

The number plate and pilot light - I haven't ordered it yet. Will do so soon.

Not looking to modify / cut anything for the headlight bulbs. Any other alternative LED bulb that I can use in place of the stock bulb (where I don't need to modify / cut anything).

Thanks a lot Avi! Yes, on those 4 long rides, I realized that riding the Versys was fun and you can ride further and farther.

I've been using the OPT7 LED bulb on my CBR 650F. It's undoubtedly 30-40% brighter than stock halogen. It's reasonably priced too.

Oops, yes the bulbs are different in the Ninja 1000. But in your case, I think the rear ones will double up for the front too as your bike has similar indicators in the front and the rear. So you can skip the front ones that I mentioned and double order the rear ones to work in the front as well.

You can upgrade to Osram/Phillips Night Breaker halogen bulbs or similar, in case you want to stick with the current setup. But real gains will come with a led upgrade or a even costlier and messier Projector lamp setup. Led bulb upgrade is relatively simple and you can replace the rubber covers (in case you don't wish to cut them) with the one's in the link provided, which have the holes pre-cut and also seals around the bulb to prevent any dust build up inside the Headlights.

Cheers...

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

Thanks Added Flavor and Dkaile Sir, I will take a look at the LED Bulbs you have suggested. Meanwhile the AliExpress relay arrived today. Surprisingly quick since I had ordered it less than 2 weeks ago. Now waiting for the LED bulbs to arrive then will try it on the indicators.

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

Congratulations Allen.

I'm late to the party here in Team Bhp. Godzilla, the original Z800 has been very inspirational to many of us here and I'm confident that the Versys is a right choice to mark the return of the Godzilla. Pretty sure you must have realised by now that the Versys lacks in sheer adrenaline rush provided by the Z800, but more than makes up for it with the practical and all-rounded nature that makes it a good companion for all seasons.

Congrats once again.

Thank you CD! You pretty much summed it up here. Whenever I miss the Z800 - that's exactly what I tell myself. But the "Missing" feeling does not go

Sorry this is the LED flasher unit as suggested by Dkaile.

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

Dont have much updates to share as of now. I am yet to install the LED bulbs and the flasher unit. Will mostly do it next week. I am thinking of installing a flasher unit (Impulsive Decision: From the Z800 to a pre-worshipped KTM Duke 390) like the one I had on my Duke. Has anyone used it on a Versys? Faced any problems?

While going through my photo archive, I came across a pic of my previous bikes almost a decade ago. Thought I'd share them with the current bikes (although the RX100 is missing in the current lineup)

2008 : Royal Enfield Machismo 350 and Yamaha RX100 (both modifier into Cafe Racers)

2018 : KTM Duke 390 and Kawasaki Versys 650. Duke is used by my brother. The RX100 is my daily ride. And the Versys - have to get it out of its hibernation.

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

So I finally took the Versys out today to install the LED signal bulbs and the Flasher relay unit. Took me and my younger brother almost an hour and a half and below is the result.

We started off with taking the windshield off. Was an easy task - have to be very careful though to hold the brackets from falling off and damaging the fairing. Next to come off qas cover - we opened up the 2 screws but the cover wouldnt budge. After looking around , we realised that the button clips also had to be pushed to disconnect the cover. It takes some effort though to take the cover off. Since it is very close to the headlight fairing, it is advisable to have a lot of patience and a cloth below the xober to prevent scratches.

Cover taken off - it was now time to install the flasher relay. Quite an easy task - unhook the relay, unclip the wiring, take the rubber mounts off the old relay and put it on the new relay - and then mount it back. Satisfied - we moved on to opening the indicator lenses to install the LED bulbs. Poof!!! The indicator socket housing the OE bulbs is not compatible with the LED bulbs.

Dkaile Sir - I may need your expert advise on choosing the right bulbs for this socket. I believe the socket for the Ninja and the Versys 650 are different and hence these do not fit.

Here are some pics of the relay and the LED bulbs.

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

Made good use of the LED indicators - fitted them on the pilot lights of our Kwid. Looks amazing in the night - will post a pic soon. Anyways this is not a Kwid thread - so let's get on with the Versys.
The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650-picsart_093007.05.55.jpg

Finally got the bike out of its hibernation last week. I had plans of doing a solo ride to Lonavala (for an office outing) on the weekend - but heard that the roads were bad and had taken a beating - not that it mattered on the Versys. Top it all I woke up quite late - and there was no way I wanted to ride during peak hours. I opted to go by the bus - was so much comfortable and best of all A/C. In most of my trips, I have always been behind the wheel or the handlebar. It's fun to drive (can probably be another sticker - FTD) but the return journey is always a pain - especially if it's a one day trip.

There was no plan to ride on Sunday - so just caught up with good friends for coffee at Barista and to get a glimpse of Triumph's Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride. Hoping to start riding, now that the rains are over. Some pics of today's ride

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

Has anyone tried putting a light film over the windshield? I am thinking of trying it out - not a dark one cos it will affect visibility. Does 3M do that ? Or should I be checking with any car accessory shop to put a car film?

Also I am due for the 2nd service this month. Can so.eone please advise what's covered in the 2nd service? I believe there is no engine oil change required (although I plan to change it myself). What else is involved? I think I was told it would be basic inspection

I changed engine oil.

Air Filter was checked but it was good to run another 6k kms.

Was charged Rs 6590/- for the service as below -

Labour - 3390/- (Two hours then, mainly due to removal of tank to check air filter).
Chain Lube - 100/-
Oil Filter - 780/-
Engine Oil - 1800/-

Re: The return of Godzilla - My Kawasaki Versys 650

Finally took the Versys out for a ride today to Malsej Ghat. Was a fun 300 Kms ride to and fro - except the return journey where the roads in Kalyan were being repaired. The weather was cool, the company was cooler and the Versys performed as expected.

The weather hovered around 15-18 degrees during early morning and rose to probably 20-23 on our return trip. Breakfast was at the scenic MTDC resort at Malsej.

The rides:
1*Versys 650
1*Suzuki GSXR1000 with Arrows
1*Triumph Tiger with Arrows
1*Triumph Speed Triple with SC Project
2*Triumph Street Triple RS with Scorpion and SC Project

As you can see I was in loud company - for brief (and I mean really brief) moments where I was riding aside these guys - I did not miss the sound of an inline 3/4 engine. But once they disappeared , it was only me and the silent Versys all the way to Malsej and back.

I am happy to say that the Versys performed well in all aspects. There were a few patches of bad road and this was probably the first time I was riding on such bad roads - but the Versys took those roads easily. I did have to slow down but the best part is I couldn't feel the jerks while moving over these patches and potholes.

Mileage wise I am not sure because I did not refill on my return. I am a bit confused as to how the fuel bars work. So I tanked up before the ride - there was just the E bar and another bar left and I tanked almost 11 litres. Does that mean the tank already had 10 litres in it (Versys has a 21 litre tanks, right). For 140 Kms, it was only the first bar that dropped. The second bar dropped at around 170 Kms and then one by one they fell like dominoes. I covered a total of around 290 Kms and I still have the E bar and another bar left. Can anyone decode this barcode?

Till then, let's enjoy the pics :
