We all know the service centers can't stock parts for these premium machines which sell in lesser numbers. So CKD price of the bike, could mean more sales, could result in more spare parts stocked at the dealerships - or atleast with Kawasaki Pune.

Honestly, barring few occasions havent had much issues with spares (touchwood!) for the ZX. Infact the only time I had any issue was when IKM and Bajaj split and the dealers were under transition with a logistics embargo. Ofcourse as a thumbrule, I generally keep a set of running spares available with me at home for any emergencies but havent had a chance to use them till now. Maybe it is also because there arent too many ZX10s around.

I am sure the situation is vastly different at many IKM service centers and specially when one talks beyond the running consumables. Have heard enough horror stories of other Kawa owners when it comes to spares and service. Fortunately have only had a good experience on this front with the Mumbai dealership.

To me it seems the availability has generally improved since IKM went solo.

Looks like Kawasaki is truly aiming at one bike a month. It's June and the teaser is up, which I believe could only be hinting at the ZX10R launch and nothing else -

re: Kawasaki ZX-10R to be locally assembled. EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.80 lakhs

Launched at 12.80L !
That's a cut of full 6L (~32%). Way to go Kawasaki !!! Bad news for the current owners though
Cut of 5.8L on RR.

Locally assembled ZX-10R and ZX-10RR launched! The ZX-10R now wears a shocking price tag of Rs 12.80 lakh; the ZX-10RR retails for Rs 16.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings open now.
https://twitter.com/autocarindiamag/...49400886231040

If we consider USA's pricing scale, ZX10R ABS ($16099) is priced about 32% more than Ninja 1000 ABS ($12199).
In India, it is priced about 28.2% more than the Ninja 1000 (9.99L) which itself is considered very well priced

Bangalore onroad prices are expected to fall by around 7 - 7.5L!

Infact, forget the ZX10R, even the more hardcore ZX10RR is still cheaper than the cheapest litre class superbike from the competition.

Here's how the pricing compares -

Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R (new price) - 12,80,000
Kawasaki Ninja ZX10RR (new price) - 16,10,000

Honda CBR 1000RR - 16,79,838
Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R (old price)- 18,80,000
Suzuki GSX R1000 - 19,00,000
BMW S1000 RR - 19,60,000
Ducati Panigale V4 - 20,53,000

Honda CBR1000RR SP - 21,22,190
Kawasaki Ninja ZX10 RR (old price) - 21,90,000
Suzuki GSX R1000R - 22,00,000
BMW S1000RR - 22,30,000
Ducati Panigale V4 - 25,29,000

Whoa! Will the onroad price be so high? With 18% road tax and 80k insurance, won't it be around 16L?
Anyway, next stop - One Nation-One Road Tax

Unbelievable pricing for the ZX10R!! They sure are planning to wipe out the competition with this one. And with service improving day by day, Kawasaki seems damn serious about India.

Cheers...

Re: Rumour: Kawasaki ZX-10R to be locally assembled

The Press Release - Prices are introductory, production will be limited, specially for the ZX10RR.

Quote:
29th June 2018 India Kawasaki announces launch of new Ninja ZX-10R and new Ninja ZX-10RR as a locally assembled models in the Indian market. The new Ninja ZX-10R and new Ninja ZX-10RR are well-known supersport models mainly because of former’s three times successive victories at the World Superbike Championship. Equipped with championship-proven technology both the models are fully capable of dominating the streets.

The local assembly of the new Ninja ZX-10R & new Ninja ZX-10RR is a very important landmark for India Kawasaki’s Pune Plant. Lots of groundwork has been done before finalizing local assembly of these models. Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors, said” The new Ninja ZX-10R & new Ninja ZX-10RR have a unique engineering heritage with a very advance technology. Our newly established R&D played a vital role in making local assembly of the new Ninja ZX-10R and new Ninja ZX-10RR successful.”

The new Ninja ZX-10R and new Ninja ZX-10RR, produced with unique Japanese engineering and technologies have features like Kawasaki Quick Shifter, Kawasaki Launch Control Mode, Kawasaki Engine Brake Control, ABS etc. Further states Mr. Yamashita” A decision of local assembly of these two high performing motorcycles, which are also sold in Europe, USA Japan etc., was taken more from future perspective than only from price perspective. India Kawasaki has a vision for Indian market and steps like these will pave the path to achieve its goals. Besides it will also help to increase craze and enthusiasm for these two legendary performers in this country.”

The first-ever locally assembled new Ninja ZX-10R and new Ninja ZX-10RR are being introduced with a special pre-order offer. Under the special pre-order offer the ex-showroom Delhi price of the new Ninja ZX-10R is 1,280,000 INR and the price of the new Ninja ZX-10RR – 1,610,000 INR. This offer is valid till the end of July 2018 and then there will be significant increase in the price. While the new Ninja ZX-10R will be available in KRT edition along with few graphical changes, the new Ninja ZX-10RR will be available in black.

Both the models will be produced limited in numbers, however the total units of the new Ninja ZX-10RR will be lesser than the total units of the new Ninja ZX-10R, as the Ninja ZX-10RR’s global production is limited. The bookings for Model Year 2018 are now open and will be closed after the allocated production and bookings are completed.

Kudos to kawasaki to actually pass a huge benefit to the customer. Please do something similar for ninja 400.

Very interesting and very tempting. Hopefully this makes other companies follow suite especially with the sub 1000cc models.

That will truly be a game changer in my opinion. There are hardly any seriously good upgrades for the huge segment of 200cc-250cc sports biker.

With the 300 rumoured to be localised - 400 doesnt stand much of a chance. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...ighlight=Ninja

Only reason I can imagine why the 300 was chosen is because localization of the 400 might still be an expensive proposition against the likes RC390 and RR310 - to get the sales volumes to justify the effort.

A localized 300 at much lower prices, and the 400 prices reduced to near current 300 levels (Just hoping. ) would work very well - considering the 400 well outclasses the only competition from the R3.

Wishful thinking here - why not localize both? Would locally assembling the 400 really be that much more expensive than the 300?

As an ex-Ninja 250 owner(bought second hand, at a bargain), there has been no real upgrade for me in the immediate higher price range: 3-4 Lakhs. I'd overreach and say the same is true for all the R15, CBR 250, RR310 owners as well. It might even appeal to a lot of RC390 owners as they get older!
The Ninja 400 is considerably more powerful than the 300 and the R3, and would be a meaningful upgrade. If only it comes down to around 3.5L Ex-Showroom and the 300 can be at the 2.5-2.7L range, as rumored.
