More power and less weight! This one's a perfect track machine. But those asymmetric headlamps will be badly missed.

Competitive pricing, compared to CBU competition like the Ducati IMHO.

ZX10R is the only real exception when it comes to pricing, but the BMW mostly will be a generation ahead in performance?

I'm also among the minority who likes this new design compared to the outgoing asymmetrical front end, which was really starting to show its age over the last couple of years.

And the Fireblade as well. Last I checked, it was 16.41 ex-showroom Gurugram.
However the Blade's problem is availability. Its available only in Gurugram and Mumbai.

Fantastic pricing by BMW, IMO. Didnt expect them to undercu the GSXR1000. Makes the Suzuki look overpriced. But the Suzi is going to be cheaper to maintain, it being Japanese.

Not true - Fireblade is available in Bangalore as well. But Honda has very limited kits coming in every year.

Re: 2019 BMW S 1000 RR launched at Rs. 18.50 lakh

I never thought I would say this, but those asymmetrical headlights made the BMW different from everything else on the street. The story goes, with asymmetrical headlights, designers could save weight by using a smaller projector beam, however with the new lighter LED's becoming mainstream, that advantage is now gone hence the symmetry.
Anyhow, this bike is tech laden and virtually crash proof. It is so clinical and brutal in its approach like a surgeon without any drama ( the italians are the drama queens). The amount of technology packed into this machine is mind numbing. It is the easiest bike to ride fast, very fast and most rider friendly.
What surprises me is that BMW has stopped using the Brembo setup and moved to the Hayes System from US.
Overall, with the shiftcam variable valve system improving the low and mid power delivery, a new lighter exhaust system, narrower and lighter chassis and ahost of other upgraded parts this is a very very impressive machine. To bad, I still love the old cock eyed girl from the past.

I might be wrong here, but I think BMW is doing with bikes what most manufacturers have done with Cars. Having their own branded parts. So for example earlier, you could go to any certified Ohlins or Brembo dealer/professional to replace/repair your shocks or brakes, but now you can't. You will have to go to BMW only if you want to keep the feel and calibration similar or go aftermarket.

Overall, I think this is good competitive pricing considering this is the top dawg litre class right now.

And quite opportunistic timing by BMW on this launch. News just came in earlier this week that Shahid had his first "100 crore" movie (Kabir Singh is a super hit).

Considering the bike was launched earlier globally, BMW India has timed this to perfection.

@rachit - That could be true. But then why only change the front set up to Hayes System and retain the Brembo setup for the rear brakes. I am sure the brakes perform flawlessly but having a no name caliper is not as confidence inspiring as a brembo labeled mono block, IMO. That's where high performance aftermarket parts come in I guess.

My neighbour was just delivered a Fireblade day before yesterday in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He had to go to Mumbai to look at it and book it though.

Yeah, with all the praise and positive reviews of Brembo and Ohlins around the world over the years has left a lasting impression.

It would be interesting to know how this bike competes with others. Most of the launch reviews were not very comprehensive because of the rains.

Product to product, the new S1000RR is leagues ahead of the ZX10R and pure track day junkies will pick the new BMW over the other Japanese litre class bikes. It is the new Aprilia RSV4 that will pose the big challenge to the BMW.

However in India, for weekend riders who will do an occassional track day, the Japanese bikes are a very attractive value proposition.
