Aprilia RS 660, Tuono 660 bookings open in India. The bikes will arrive in Q2 2021. Both motorcycles will be brought in as CBUs.

Diego Graffi, CEO and MD, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd, said, “at the moment, we are taking orders from dealers pan India to understand what is the interest for this kind of product. After that we’ll start importing, I think, in the second quarter of 2021 from Europe.”

Graffi added that they are taking this route of opening enquiries to the consumers because “the product is quite expensive, more expensive than normal.”

2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 and RS 660 Indian prices leaked, likely to start from Rs 13.09 lakh

The price list originates from Pune and shows an on-road price of Rs 16.73 lakh for the Aprilia Tuono 660 and Rs. 17.10 lakh for the Aprilia RS 660

Tuono 660:

Back in 2019, we had attended the EICMA 2019 and had checked out the then new RS660 and I was surely curious about it, how it would ride and perform.

The new bikes were supposed to have arrived in the showrooms by end of 2020, but with the Corona lockdowns and general interest being less, none of the dealers near-by had the bike and the bikes arrived only in Feb-Mar of 2021. Finally with the lockdowns over and generally life getting back to normal, I decided to try and have a test ride of the RS660. Unfortunately, they didn't have an RS660 test bike but had a Tuono 660 and this was better for me, seating geometry wise. It was a short 45min test ride and the following were my observations: ( most of the points are in comparison to my Street Triple 765)

Positives: + Very nicely balanced, very flickable nature of the bike
+ Great brakes, with lots of stopping power, feel and progression
+ Plush suspension, irons out the harsh bumps and undulations
but damping taut enough to not have too much front dive
+ Loads of low end and mid range grunt, revs climb rather quickly
+ No engine heat thrown towards the rider, even in peak traffic

Negatives: - Higher seat height, makes parking lot moving a bit of an issue for me
- At low engine speeds, engine lugs a lot and bike is generally uncomfortable at residential area speeds
- No adjustable clutch or brake levers as standard and the clutch lever was so spaced out, I had to really reach out to grab the lever, though pull is light and easy to use
- Instrumentation is too cluttered and complicated menus, even the sales guy couldn't figure out how to show the time
- Windscreen not so effective at Autobahn speeds

First lot of the bikes have reached India. Launch should be anytime now. Wonder how many takers will be this bike considering the relatively high price.

Not going to find too many takers. 19 lacs OTR is too much for a bike with 'only' 100 hp albeit with top notch electronics, especially in the Indian context. You can get a very good used ZX10 2017 plus model for under 15 Lacs now, so don't think there'd be many takers.
I also feel the 660 twins has a slightly budget feel, at least for an Italian exotic!
The rear suspension is not linked, simply bolts on to the swingarm. Don't think the Brembo calipers are M5 either. Although in its defence the suspension is adjustable. If they were offering Ohlins goodies then may be this price would be somewhat justified.

The Aprilia RS 660 has started arriving at the Aprilia Motoplex dealerships, hinting at an imminent launch.





Motoplex dealerships commenced bookings for the Aprilia RS 660 and the Tuono 660 way back in March this year, and are likely to be launched together.
