Kawasaki acquires 49.9% of Italian bikemaker Bimota. Introduces Tesi H2

A good read - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super...ta-bimota.html (Bimota that was.......Bimota that is)

Brand Bimota was best known for their quirky looking hub-steered motorcycles with Italian designed chassis and Japanese engines. The brand reportedly closed down their Rimini factory and shut shop in 2017.

At EICMA 2019, Kawasaki Motors Europe, through its subsidiary Italian Motorcycle Investment, announced that they have purchased a 49.9% share in Bimota, with the controlling 50.1% being retained by its current owners (formerly Bimota S.A. but officially renamed B and Motion S.A.). in the past - Bimota used to depend on different Japanese manufacturers for their engines, but the brand will be powered by Kawasaki going forward.

Quote:
Chiancianesci says Bimota received several offers but Kawasaki ultimately stood out.

“As you know, I am a motorcycle enthusiast, and I love this Italian-born brand. In fact, I love it too much to have bought the company itself,” says Chiancianesi. “But riding a motorcycle, and running a motorcycle business is different. As you are aware, Bimota has been facing some difficulty. We received many offers, but I thought that Kawasaki’ was the best. Through the communications with Mr. Ito, (Kawasaki Motors Europe Manager Masanori) Kinuhata and other Kawasaki staff, I understand we may share the same passion, emotion and values.”

The first product of the partnership is the 2020 Tesi H2, combining the Tesi technology from Bimota and the supercharged engine from the Kawasaki H2, of which 200 motorcycles will be produced for sale in 2020.

John Britten would be so happy to see this, if he was alive, the Kiwi maverick. But, nevertheless this is dope on two wheels. The beautiful front swingarm and the chiseled body and the livery is spot on, not too gawdy not too skimpy.

Cheers!

Re: Kawasaki acquires 49.9% of Italian bikemaker Bimota. Introduces Tesi H2

Here's a VisorDown walkaround of the Tesi H2

Quote:
Don’t let the shared peak power figure fool you into thinking the Bimota Tesi H2—which is rumored to cost north of $65,000, more than double that of the Ninja H2—doesn’t offer any tangible advantage over its Kawasaki kin. In reality, it’s going to be a noticeably quicker motorcycle because it’s much lighter than the Japanese machine.

Ready to ride, complete with fuel, the Tesi H2 will tip the scales at a mere 472 pounds (214kg), which is 53 pounds (24kg) less than a Ninja H2—according to the approval documents. That’s a vast amount of savings, particularly given the Tesi’s unconventional hub-center steering system and front swingarm layout.
