There's a Style HP variant in the 1250 GSA also. It's called the battle of the 'White Beak' vs the 'Blue Beak' in GS vocabulary. Lolz.

R1250GS Style HP (aka White Beak) with the passenger kit (standard (read more comfortable) seat, normal high windscreen, centre stand etc) -

Vs

R1250GSA Style HP (aka Blue Beak) with the same passenger kit

On road price difference between the two is 1.9L. The Blue Beak seems to be winning the race for now.

Cheers...

Go for GSA with eyes closed. It will be definitely better. Fuel stops does matter in harsher terrain, say like Leh Manali, Chitkul - Kaza - Manali or Tawang - Mechuka circuit. All these mentioned routes have very less or a single fuel pump which itself has questionable fuel (So it would help if we can fill as much fuel in the best available fuel pump.)

While I was on the hunt for a ADV, I selected the bike considering following parameters.

Needed a bike which has top grunt than my current bike, Z800. Then only 1200GSA was available whose top speed was less compared to that of Z800. So went for Multistrada 1260S.

On hindsight if 1260 Enduro was available, would have gone for that. Enduro 1200 was available but was a sucker for single sided swingarm then, also didn't want to take a plunge into it as 1260 Enduro was on the anvil. Glad that I went with 1260S in Feb 19, as the prices increased across the segment by 1 ~ 2 Lakhs by April.

ADV's and beauty doesn't go hand in hand, but dare I say, a Multi is better looking than GSA. Personal opinion, please do not bash me for that.

Also moolah also comes into play, a fully loaded GSA is almost 4 ~ 5 Lakhs more than a Multi.

Re: BMW R1200GSA or R1250GS?

We are lucky to get these ducati's cheaper than the BMW's here in India thanks to Thailand otherwise the Ducati's is always at par or a slight premium above the BMW though i found both bikes to be equally good.

The difference between a multi and a GS is chalk and cheese and suit entirely different riders.
Sticking to the topic the GSA is a better buy if you consider the accessories it has as standard fitment plus the additional weight kind of disappears once you start moving and the bike in inherently extremely stable and refined.
Go with the GSA eyes closed and save a future regret.

Disclaimer- I own a 1200RT and Multi so i know about the engines from my personal experience not starting a mine is better

Don't think this Black is now available for the 2020 model year range.

A front view of both the 2020 Style HP compared. White and Blue beaks are prominently displayed from the front -

Saw this 'Brushed Aluminium Tank' in a overseas review for the new GSA. This one is on the Style HP variant of the 1250 GSA -

Is this option available in India?

Finally got time to visit Lutyens Motorrad, Delhi to check out the bike. They had just unboxed a Kalamata Matt in the Adventure variant.

Here's how it looks on me head-on. I could nearly flat foot both my feet. Body/30 L Fuel Tank is nearly as wide as the boxer engine it sits above.

BMW R1200GSA or R1250GS?-1594862043157.jpg

Here's how the normal 1250 GS looks head-on. Seat height and comfort is nearly the same. The body is less wider due to the smaller tank. But the boxer engine still protrudes out.

BMW R1200GSA or R1250GS?-1594862265795.jpg

Test rode the 1250GS HP Style or Rally as they call it. Initial torque is excellent and it's so easy to stand on the pegs. But it's 'NO' inline-4 like my Ninja 1000. That's a piece of art in a different class all together.

BMW R1200GSA or R1250GS?-1594862478148.jpg

All these bikes were Euro 5 (BS6) but 2019 manufactured and there is zero chance of any 2020 manufactured bikes being imported by BMW due to the Covid situation as per the dealer. They have ample stock for India requirements at their factory as per information received. Hence discounts of around 2-3 Lacs are being offered.

Some views of the Adventure

View of both the models back to back

My only grouse was how the engine felt on the test bike especially coming from my super smooth Ninja 1000 as I mentioned before. I do understand that these are two totally different beasts, and the test ride bike was also not very well maintained either. Now to plan to break a bank... Lolz

Cheers...

No doubt if you are sticking with BMW go for GSA., and 2 to 3 lacs discounts are good. May be you can tell them to throw in hard panniers & top box too. Can you give the break up?

Inline4 is totally different animal. It can easily potter around in 6th gear even at (shucks..) 40. I used to do that in my Z800. Now when I ride Multi, dare not change to 6th gear before 120.

BTW while your're scouting the GSA, why don't you try 1260 Enduro ? You may get mouthwatering deals for the same. Also you may need not break the bank fully.

By simply looking at the pictures, it seems the grin on your face was wider when you were at the helm of the GSA compared to that on the GS. Dilemma solved !

Many many congratulations for the GSA, looks stunning in the HP paint combination.

Are you back to Meerut or do we NCR folks still have a wee bit of a chance to catch up with you and take a look at the GSA?

Thank you so much Sir.

Sorry couldn't call you yesterday due to the mayhem of taking delivery. I live in Meerut and rode back there yesterday night itself. Chock a block traffic whole 90 kms. Too much wind protection. Got totally drenched in sweat in this heat. But the bike is just fantastic

Will connect soon. Cheers...

The best part of the boxer twin, and something which I really miss on my inline triple, is the near-perfect heat dissipation. I'm sure traffic won't have been a concern for the GSA. The weather, however, gets really irksome.

Hope to catch up with you soon.

Re: BMW R1200GSA or R1250GS?

Congratulations on the bike DKaile sir! I am very happy that you got the GSA. This color is fantastic and will be historically very significant.
The bike looks gorgeous and pictures do not do justice to how magnificent the GS and GSA look in flesh.

Here are some pics with a 1250 hp that belongs to my friend in Pune.

Wish you many happy miles with it and hope you exploit the bike's potential to your content.
