Rumour: Ducati Streetfighter V4 India launch pushed to 2021

According to a media report, Ducati has deferred the launch of the Streetfighter V4 to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The bike was initially scheduled to launch this year.

The report states that product launches that were planned for Q2 2020 have also been delayed because of the temporary suspension of production. Although, Ducati has now resumed operations at its Borgo Panigale factory in Italy.
The Streetfighter V4 is a naked version of the Panigale V4. It features minimal bodywork with twin LED headlights and a digital instrument cluster.

The bike is available in two variants - V4 and V4S. Both use the same 1,103cc engine from the Panigale V4 superbike. It produces 208 BHP @ 12,750 rpm and 123 Nm @ 11,500 rpm.

The Streetfigher V4 features Showa 43 mm fork suspension at the front with a Sach steering damper and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. The V4S gets Ohlins suspension at both ends. Both variants get twin 330 mm discs at the front and a single 245 mm disc at the rear.

One word - Mental. This is something the Joker should be riding.

208 hp in a naked that has no fairing, no screen and raised bars. Ducati surely has a lot of faith in that electronic steering damper to keep things in check.

I cant think of anything else other than the Super Duke R, that will be this lethal and brutal in execution.

Even the Super Duke R cannot come close to the Panigale V4 after a point. Looking at the power and torque curves below. The Panigale V4 has an insane BHP curve till 13k RPM wheras Super Duke R cuts off at 10K RPM obviously due V-Twin configuration over V4 but also because of which Super Duke juices out early with a stronger torque curve.

The street fighter V4 has a different engine tune then the Panigale V4 and due to the nature of the engine the peak torque actually comes in at 1500 rpm higher than the Panigale V4.

Not a good thing for a naked. It is in fact the biggest down side of this bike. You have to be really up into the rpm range to have any fun with it. Again, a counter productive move in a naked. It should actually be the other way round, cut the top end and improve the ride-ability at lower and mid end.

Coming to the Super Duke R, it is the finest naked in the world. The Bar against which all other nakeds are measured, this Ducati included. Its actually not always just the figures. Its how those numbers interact with the chassis and electronics to provide a sublime experience. They have updated the Duke for 2020. It now has 108 lb-ft at 8000 rpm. More importantly, 89 lb-ft at just 4500 rpm.

Even more so, as a package, the Duke is untouchable. I often say it is the bike that Satan prefers. That is how satanic read insanely fun it is to ride.

I agree on the point that Duke R would be maniac in the Low and Mid due to the V-Twin set-up over V4 but maybe just maybe Street Fighter being a V4 should carry the momentum all the way through the mid to the top and cut-off beyond Duke R's spectrum. Typically like a Triple Vs Inline-4 so to say. Although a back to back TD would be nice.

But overall, yes the fact of the matter is HyperNakeds should cut-off the top and be able to juice out in the lows and mids that's what even I'd love in a naked too.

Cheers,
Amey

Re: Rumour: Ducati Streetfighter V4 India launch pushed to 2021

Bikewale stated that dealerships are taking bookings. Is this correct? Due to lockdown, I thought that several dealerships are closed.

Quite interested to see how many bookings happen. Given that its a naked with 200+ hp, and no fairings, if the 2021 V4 is launched, my take is that more will go for the V4 than the naked.
