Jokes aside, I do have a question, How do we know if is it allowed to get into areas like these on cars/bikes/cycles, in your case it being a wildlife sanctuary region and all, but my question is in a more general sense. About any trails tbh, when we do not know if it's private or public property and if entry allowed or not.

I used to go to a place in Bangalore which was a popular MTB trail, managed to go a few times but then suddenly the police started showing up and saying cycling is not allowed and stopped people from getting in. It wasn't a forest or conserved area too.

Cheers
Krishna
This is the best we can manage given the umpteen regulations, unwarranted exposure to risk and travel restrictions in place. How I wish I could do a week long ride up in the Himalayas right away !

Coming back to your question - these places around Delhi and Gurgaon which have trails are primarily in the Aravali Hills and adjoining areas. These are dotted with villages. There are no proper roads leading to these villages, only the trails. In local lingo, these are called "Beehad" (close translation would be dry forest and rocky trails). So pretty sure these are not private land. As regards to restrictions, there are restrictions inside Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a huge huge stretch of land, the trail we did is only a miniscule part of it. Apart from this, everything else comes under restricted zone. This trail too would come as a restricted zone in the right sense of the word, however picnic dwellers and aspiring motocross riders do frequent the quarries often (mostly modded Hero Impulse riders). These trails are regularly frequented by trail runners too.

So there are no restrictions as such for visitors, but yes camping and stuff can be a dangerous thing to do as these places are not that safe. Documented episodes of petty crimes are aplenty.

I didn't realize you hadn't created your Tiger thread all this while. Anyway, as they say in Hindi - der aaye, durust aaye
Thank you sir.

Not sure if these trails are safe for spending alone time for the same reason as stated above. But yes, there are some nice trails around Gurgaon which are definitely worth exploring.

This thread was indeed long due !

Awaiting your Street Triple RS ownership thread.

re: Dreams do come true : 5 years & 30000 kms with my Triumph Tiger 800 XR

Enjoyed a nice solo ride last evening in the Aravali hills near Gurgaon.

The pandemic has restricted riding to only once a week so far. Glad that there are some nice riding roads around to enjoy a short spin.

Damn so jealous of you I am looking at all those pics, but in a good way
Also, that Red Rocket 3 looks really hot. Diavel hopefully has some competition now.

Thanks a lot.

The Rocket 3 indeed looks gorgeous, both in red and in black. But I have to agree that the red one looks rather amazing. Personally, I love it more than the Diavel. That said, the xDiavelS in black is also quite a looker !

Those 630s must be hoot on trails, I think they are very rare in India. Personal import?

You bet !

Yes these are private imports. There are a few more Huskies in NCR and apparently a 701 Supermoto might arrive as well, possibly by the end of this year.

Dear //M,

A very inspiring and Amazing thread on the “Bagheera”. Tiger is an amazing beast and have been drooling over it for some time and this thread helps a ton. A quick question on the 900 test ride, well I haven’t been able to ride it yet but photos show a rather slim bike as compared to the 800. For my built 6.2 ft with 130 kgs I feel it will be like a elephant riding a mouse. What’s your take about this?

Thank you so much.

For your built, the Tiger 900 Rally Pro or the Africa Twin CRF1100L would be perfect. Sure the 900 has lost some weight compared to the 800, but it is no way a small motorcycle. It is comparatively slim but quite tall and still has the industrial demeanor. I don't think it will look small on you. I also judged the size too quickly seeing pictures but in flesh, the 900 is still a big bad adventure tourer. Also, it feels much lighter on the move so you are really going to enjoy it.

But do consider the Africa Twin as well. The manual variant is priced at par with the Tiger 900 Rally Pro and going by my limited understanding of this segment, the Africa Twin should be more reasonable to run from service costs pov and possibly, it will have a marginally better resale value than the Tiger 900. So test ride both motorcycles and decide. All the best !

I have a feeling I am going to encounter some of these huskies in Shimla over the next few days. Going for some trail riding 10-12th and I think some chaps were getting huskies from NCR. I of course am resigned to flying in from Mumbai. Just too long to ride my tiger from here with work and time constraints.

I second what //M said. The 900 looks substantial enough in the flesh. Pics are misleading. You will be absolutely fine on the rally / rally pro. And like he said do also consider the Africa twin manual. Although personally I think pick the bike you prefer based on the ride not size of bike. In time if you truly use the rally pro on tough trails you will like the easier accessibility given your height etc and the confidence it will provide you on very tough terrain. Where some of us shorties are inclined to consider lighter smaller alternatives.

Lucky man. Make sure you drop a full report here for our sore eyes! Is this some organised thing? Who?

Wow this sounds very interesting. Is it by chance the organised trail ride to Shikari Devi trail and Moolkoti Magic trail thing with Shahnawaz Karim as trainer?

Or is it a self-planned trip with some like-minded people?

Either ways, wishing you all the fun !

Ride safe.

Thanks guys. Organised group ride with training on the go. Doing this with Xplor Earth (Vijay Parmar). Leopard Trail, Shikari Devi Trail and Moolkoti Trail.

I have been WAITING to do a planned ride with Vijay Parmar. Jumped at the opportunity at very short notice the moment I heard.

That's very nice to know. Yes I actually meant Vijay Parmar but I got confused with another trail ride session being conducted by Shahnawaz Karim. My bad !

There are a couple of riders who have gone to do a recce ride to these places, I know of a BMW R1250 GS rider from NCR who has gone there yesterday.

All the best for this adventure trip. Looking forward to hear your experience.

Enjoyed a nice mid-week early morning coffee meet yesterday with a few fellow rider buddies in central Delhi.

With most roads going out of NCR under the radar of cops who have been troubling bikers off late, thanks to some riders who have been extremely reckless (the Ninja ZX10R thread for example), our only option remains to ride inside the city. But I'm not complaining yet. There are some wonderful trails around Gurgaon for us to explore, which are a treat to ride on and are a perfect testing ground for man and machine.
