re: Dreams do come true : 2 years & 18000 kms with my Triumph Tiger 800 XR

I had plans to do the Ladakh circuit in September this year but most likely the current scenario will not permit me to do this at the moment. But there are many rides in the pipeline – Pangi Valley, Chanshal Pass, Winter Spiti, Eastern Ladakh, Shinku La, Mustang Valley, Jaisalmer and the list is simply too long. Hope to cover each of these on my Tiger, one step at a time !

One click of the garagemates - Bagheera and Kymara.

re: Dreams do come true : 5 years & 30000 kms with my Triumph Tiger 800 XR

That is one awesome thread and inspiration for fellow riders, sure, helps in lifting the mood on a Monday morning with lovely photos. The stand out pic for me in the entire thread is when you are entering JH and your panniers are all muddy, but the rubber all black, that sums up a lot.

If people have doubts about buying a motorcycle [the big, expensive one] should see this thread & few others if they can utilize it as well and then take a call. Cost and usability wise.

This Covid situation is pretty disastrous for all road trippers, hope it gets over soon. Ride safe .

Bagheera what a name. Absolutely loved the name and it deserves it. Great pictures, it looks superb in its natural territory. The servicing costs are higher than my TUV

I can totally relate to you drooling over YouTube videos. I am doing the same from last few years on Jeep Compass.

Best of luck. Wishing you happy miles.

Always a good feeling to see a fellow biker clock good miles across the Country! That's how these bikes are to be used and you're doing it really well! Wishing you many more happy and safe miles!

Wow! What a great way to experience amazing location with one of the best companions!

BTW, I didn't see Suzuki V-strom or Kawasaki Versys in your list of considerations. While you considered a bike mainly for touring, these two were definitely two worthy candidates.

re: Dreams do come true : 5 years & 30000 kms with my Triumph Tiger 800 XR

Now thats some serious Monday motivation ! Thanks a lot for the thread.
I too own a 2017 Tiger XR. Have ridden and owned many other bikes from single cylinders to 4 cylinders before and they all stayed in the garage for a very short period of time. But the Tiger is a keeper, and not even a single time I wanted to upgrade or replace the Tiger. The Tiger has been a wonderful companion all these years and have never let me down be it on long highways, mud or snow ! The super smooth refined triple engine is definitely my favourite part of the motorcycle. Covering 1000 kms a day is so comfortable in the Tiger mainly due to the vibe free nature of the bike. I have done some serious off roading in the Tiger too, eventhough this being the XR version, the bike has stood up against whatever was thrown at it. The stock plastic bash plate broke after few months. But later I changed it to OTO Aluminium bash plate from Motonerdz and there has been no looking back since. A set of dual purpose tyres and a bash plate is must if you want to take your XR off road. Yes the tiger is very top heavy and taking it off road is a big hustle. But once you get the confidence, it is the one of the most thrilling things in life !
Riding in the city is a very easy task due to the overall visibility from the high saddle, corner carving is a fun task due to the superb handling characteristics and that ballistic triple cylinder engine, cruising at triple digit speeds all day long is a very smooth affair, the pillion feels like sitting on a sofa on wheels, and the bike can handle moderate off roading too ! What else do you need ? A proper do it all bike in my opinion !

Sharing few photos of the wonderful moments I had with my White Tiger !

Thank you sir. I did have an emotional moment entering Jharkhand with the Tiger, the roads in that part of the country are simply amazing and it was a blast to gun the motorcycle towards home.

The Covid situation has seriously taken a toll on riding but hope to gather miles once the riding season sets in by October. A couple of short himalayan trips are always on the cards.

Also, a big thank you for your honest feedback on the Yamaha FZ25. When I was contemplating two motorcycles, the Yamaha FZ25 was one serious contender but then plans changed for good and I had to let go of the idea of keeping two motorcycles.

We did pick up a Dominar 400 later, currently it is being used by my younger brother. Attaching one picture here,

Thank You, yes the Bagheera moniker suits the motorcycle more than anything else. I have always been a Jungle Book fanboy so I simply couldn't come up with a better name for the Tiger !

The Jeep Compass is a beautiful vehicle, the ride quality is simply superb. I am eyeing a 4x4 too and the new Thar is getting all my attention these days.

Many thanks. My only purpose was to tour the country and I am glad that the Tiger worked out to be a nice choice. I really hope to keep up the motivation and sustain doing such trips every now and then.

I did consider the Versys seriously. I even checked with Kawasaki Pune and couple of KTM dealers in Mumbai (back then 300/650 cc Kwackers were sold through KTM dealerships) but none of them had a test ride motorcycle and I was very sceptical of spending such amount of money on a product before experiencing it first hand.

The V Strom was yet to be launched, but by then I had made up my mind to go for the Tiger. It was truly one motorcycle that I always dreamt of owning someday.

What drool worthy pictures of your White Tiger. I personally loved the click with the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, looks like a picture of a predator eyeing its prey !

I absolutely agree to your feedback on the Tiger. It is a pretty versatile tool to play around with, once you get used to the mammoth dimensions and the weight. It is indeed a keeper, I do plan to keep it for as long as I can.

Btw, many congratulations for the Karoq.
