Same pinch buddy! I too was a massive fan and an avid reader of Raj/Manoj/Diamond comics till my teenage days. All these characters felt too real to me as a kid

Oh, that’s bad. I hope you would have already taken it to some trusted FNG’s. However, all the best for your search of a new ride! Just saying, I might move from R to a Tiger in near future. Nothing finalised yet.

If you do decide to move on from the Striple do get in touch with me first before putting it on adverts. If our circumstances align, we may make a deal
I do sometimes ride down to Lonavala on my duke, if you happen to be around and feel up for a ride sometimes and may be chai sutta etc, I'd love to have a closer look at the bike.
We can also discuss comics
Till then happy munching miles.

re: My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review. EDIT: 2 years & 17000 km up

Munching miles albeit slowly this time. 15k on odometer is still elusive by some 130-140 odd kms.

Traction control really helped today! I gave the throttle full go after coming out of a corner during my today’s ride. The rear fishtailed violently and at the same time power got cut, a red light flashed in console, tire came back in line and bike resumed the power. All this happened within a second.
And before I can panic, it was all good and I was gunning for the next corner.

Not sure what exactly happened, did tire loose grip on wet road due to strong acceleration or something else? I rode in similar way throughout the ghat section and all was ok.

Few clicks from recent rides.

Nice Abhi, real nice. You are using her well and enjoying yourself even in the rains

Probably there was some gravel or slush on the corner besides being wet when you yanked the throttle open and were possibly in second gear too. Too much power, lean angle and some stuff on the corner. Thank God for modern day electronics. It’s these moments which makes the price for our big tech laden bikes totally worth it.

These moments do give a real adrenaline rush but the outcome can be bad too. Ride safe my friend and a bit more cautiously when it’s wet because our eyes cannot make out when the corner is just wet or there is another dangerous mix on our roads. Take care.

Cheers

re: My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review. EDIT: 2 years & 17000 km up

Its 15000 in odometer!

My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review | EDIT: 22,000 km up & sold-96fa07e5f54d4e7db78837bc4e43acfc.jpeg

The positives mentioned in 10k update are still the positives. It’s a lovely multi-cylinder bike which delivers as promised.

Engine is a beauty which works like clockwork. It can go into those un-mentionable speed in hardly couple of seconds. It still scares the hell out of me!

Steel braided brake lines are such a boon. It never felt spongy/vague despite me vigorously using it during my ‘wet’ ride to Varandha.

Seat comfort is decent and you can go miles before having to stop. Chances are you will stop either for bio-break or refuel and not due to fatigue.

First major service is due in couple of months and it supposedly will be a bit heavy on wallet.

A ride to celebrate this figure

re: My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review. EDIT: 2 years & 17000 km up

Hey Abhi really nice ones. Appreciate you sharing the snaps. Wonder if you could help me out with 2 questions.
1. How would you compare the riding posture and the seat comfort on the STR to the D390?
2. How would you compare the exhaust note/loudness between the STR and Trident 660 at idle and around 6K rpm each?

I believe the 3cyl triumphs rev high on initial ignition and since my rides usually start super early 4ish am I want to make sure it doesn't disturb people in my apartment area. It's another thing that I like it nice and loud at daybreak when on the highway in the groove.

Thanks

STR is slightly more aggressive with foot pegs more higher up as compared to Duke. Can’t comment on seat comfort since I have ridden Duke just once for a quick test ride. On its own, STR seat is quite comfortable once you are used to it. For someone new to superbike, it will irritate initially for sure.

STR sounds relatively louder as compared to Trident throughout the rev range. However, they are quite similar apart from that.

PS - I haven’t test ridden Trident. Just rode with them couple of times in group rides.

Also, don’t worry about waking the neighbours if you are starting the engine at an open place coming out from your parking. You won’t wake anyone anyways if you have a basement parking.
I suppose, most fuel injected engines sounds loud at idle when they are cold. Isn’t it?

re: My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review. EDIT: 2 years & 17000 km up

Thanks a lot Abhi. I'm mostly heading towards the STR and these impressions make it easier for me to decide. I've already ruled out the CBR650R though it's probably the best looker in the class imo. The Z900 might just not be nimble enough for the aggression. The Trident is a nifty package too but seems to have throttle lag issues and offers lesser overall quality for the price. About the STR, nearly every review I've read people just swear by it so I guess there must be something really special about it.

re: My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review. EDIT: 2 years & 17000 km up

2 year update. 17k on the odometer

The R’ completed 2 year last weekend. As updated in superbike maintenance and upkeep cost thread, it costed upwards of ₹25000 for it’s first major service, 3rd overall.

Bike is back and feels as good as new.
17k was approaching on the odometer. So, rode to Divegar, taking the longer route, to achieve the milestone.

4000 kms on Vredstein ST
Below is my observation on Vredstein ST tyres after using them for 4K kms in 6 months.

Positives-
Relatively value for money.
Good cornering grip.(as tested with my limited ability)
Nitrogen retention as good as Pirelli’s.
Stability on wet roads is good.

Negatives-
Looses grip on hard acceleration.
Ditto during aggressive downshift.
Doesn’t looks that good

I will say go for ‘NS’ instead of ST. It looks much better with all the positives of ST.

Rear tyre suffered a puncture. It never happened with the Pirelli’s. A small nail pierced through the tyre.

ST is flatter compared to rounder NS, more surface area for foreign objects. Would you try increasing tyre pressure by couple of psi and see if it makes any difference. It might make ride a bit harsh at cost of being puncture resistant.

NS is claimed to have softer compound as well, I think ST is better for straight line cruisers or city usage.

Congratulations. Great to see your bike is munching miles at the rate it is.

The overall kaas area is simply magnificent with some outstanding riding / driving routes. I was in Mahabaleshwar just last weekend with 5 other bikes and this time we used the Medha Kudal route to return. Beautiful roads there too. Dropping one pic from that ride.

The Vredenstein are indeed supposed to be more susceptible to punctures from what I’ve heard from some users as well. The other thing I’ve heard is that performance dips pretty early in the Vee’s life. I would honestly recommend switching to Pirellis the next time around. You’re riding an absolutely top spec street naked bike. No fun in robbing that away with less than ideal tyres.

Thanks for the compliments Axe . Yes, the Medha - Kudal route is quite good. I have done that route couple of times as well.

Very true! It’s just that Pirelli’s were costing 100% extra earlier this summer. Prices have came down a bit recently.

I keep them 34/42 as advised in manual. Is further increase of air pressure advisable?

I am speaking purely in terms of grip. A rider buddy whose riding skill is quite good, got NS and he is quite happy with it.

32/34 front and 40/42 rear tyre pressure is what I have been using in my RS765's Metzelers . Any more than 42 at the rear makes the ride unsettling especially if you have setup the suspension as per the sport settings.

Vredsteins do pick up a few punctures, infact I installed the vredstein on my Street Twin and after playing around with lower air pressures, got 3 punctures within a matter of weeks! Will be looking for a better alternative soon

Hi Slash!
Adding a bit more since I owned a D390 until a month ago with 30,000 kms and own a Triple R (4000kms). Agree with T-Jet, posture is aggressive than D390 with knees higher up, i'm 5'10 for reference.

Comfort wise - both aren't great. Striple has softer seat padding with no grip/texture. I slide around a lot more than d390. I've done 400 kms days on both. KTM's were achy around the thighs and butt after 250kms in the highway. Striple seats are comfy but hurts the wrist after 300kms.
