Triumph has released a teaser video of the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS.

The teaser reveals the bike's twin LED headlamps that have integrated LED daytime running lights. Also visible in the video is its carbon fibre front fender.

The 2021 Speed Triple RS is likely to be powered by a 1,200cc, 3-cylinder engine instead of the 1,050cc unit. Thanks to the extra displacement, the engine is expected to produce more power and torque as well.

The 2021 Speed Triple RS will make its global debut on January 26, 2021.

I commend triumph for achieving this engineering and mechanical feat. Triumph is amazing with their triples and chassis (read Daytona 675r and the striple). But, the question that haunts me is how did they consider the hyper naked segment profitable enough to create this bike? Don't get me wrong, I love me some 200 HP hyper nakeds like the SDR and street fighter V4 but it's too much for the streets and not for the track (no fairing for wind blast protection). Can someone help me comprehend this class of bikes?

Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS India launch on Jan 28

Triumph is gearing up to launch the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS in India on January 28, 2021, just a couple of days after its global debut.

Earlier this month, Triumph had released a teaser video of the new bike highlighting its twin LED headlamps and carbon fibre front fender.

However, the biggest change has been made in the engine department. The 2021 Speed Triple RS is likely to be powered by a 1,200cc, 3-cylinder engine instead of the 1,050cc unit.

The litre-class naked street bike will get a revised suspension setup with adjustable Ohlins dampers and Brembo Stylema brakes. It is also expected to get a new digital instrument cluster with integrated GoPro controls and the MyTriumph connectivity system.

With all that power, equipment and light weight (expensive) materials, I have a feeling that this is also going to be priced much above, for example, the Tiger 900. Thus we're potentially looking at a bike that will cost around Rs 20 lakh

Excellent question. I feel that around 100 HP is more than enough for road usage and even in the UK, there are more and more enthusiasts complaining about the average speed cameras which are putting a lid on their ahem, fun. So yes, 200 HP hyper nakeds are completely illogical but the segment seems to be doing well enough for so many companies to pump money into new products.

Sales of sports (faired) bikes have been on the downswing for some time now and in the long run, this will eventually flatten out to a steady but low number. The (upper?) middleweight segment - KTM Duke 890, Triumph Street Triple R/RS, Suzuki S750 etc with 100 - 120 HP are going to be bring in the major volumes for people looking at occasional track + lots of real world usage while the bigger brothers are going to be the halo products for the serious track + road users.

One other point that is in favour of these big nakeds is that they are perfect for riders who have already spent 4 - 5 years riding middleweights and the itch to upgrade cannot be denied.

The 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS has been spotted out in the wild. And here's what it might get:
- New frame and sub-frame
- Top-spec Ohlins suspension and Brembos on the front
- Revised radiator shrouds, heel plates, rear footpeg assemblies
- Retuned 1200cc triple with more output than the lower variants
- More protruding headlights, but that might just be because of the way the photos are shot
- A side-mounted exhaust instead of the underbelly one on the lower variants

Looks smashing overall, D I V I N E.

The headlights definitely look more protruding, it seems clear in the last snap which spoils the flow of the overall design in side profile.

Let’s see where they price it, the Street Triple RS is 14.xx lacs on road Mumbai. This one will probably go to 18-19 lacs I guess. We will know soon, two days to go.

2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS revealed, India launch on January 28.



The new Speed Triple 1200 RS gets an all-new 1,160 cc triple-cylinder engine which is 7 kg lighter than before. It makes 178 bhp at 10,750 rpm along with 125 Nm of peak torque coming in at 9,000 rpm.

The new engine makes 30 bhp and 8 Nm more than the previous model. The company says that the performance is best yet among any sport naked from Triumph till date. With 12 % lesser powertrain inertia, the new Speed Triple is said to have solid acceleration as well. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quick shifter.



The motorcycle is built on a new all-new lightweight cast-Aluminium frame and is 10 kg lighter overall than the previous generation model. The weight distribution is further forward and lower. The wet weight of the motorcycle is 198 kg.

The bike gets top-spec Ohlins NIX30 upside down forks which are adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. At the rear is a Ohlins TTX36 twin-tube monoshock which is also fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. In terms of braking, the front end gets twin 320 mm discs gripped by Brembo Stylema radial Monobloc front callipers and a Brembo twin-piston calliper at the rear with a 270 mm disc. The front brake lever is adjustable as well.



The motorcycle is shod with Metzeler Racetec RR tyres as standard and can be optionally specified with Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa SC2 tyres as well.

The 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS is loaded with electronics and new features as well. It gets a new 5-inch fully TFT instrument console with different layouts. The switchgear is new too and Triumph says it offers better functionality while riding.



Then there is a comprehensive electronics suite which consists of a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), ABS, cornering ABS, traction control, front wheel lift control and 5 riding modes which are road, rain, sport, track and rider. All modes are configurable and have varying settings for electronic intervention.



Other features include My Triumph Connectivity System, full LED lighting, keyless ignition and integrated GoPro controls.

The new Speed Triple looks like it is going to be real winner for Triumph. I am genuinely excited for a Triumph product after a long time. The inclusion of keyless ignition is the only thing that I would have avoided but otherwise it looks as though Triumph is right on target with this bike. They have nailed the soundtrack as well, I dont see anyone needing an aftermarket exhaust. They seem to have finally designed a proper digital dash as well, heavens be praised.

The price tag of GBP 15,100 should equate to around Rs 15 - 16L ex showroom, hopefully Triumph prices it reasonably in India. The interest levels from the riders community is very high.

Also, hope the dealerships invest in and maintain the test ride bikes. The Cochin showroom's 765RS test ride bike never seems to be available. Every time I asked, it was pending an insurance claim and hence was not available. And Ive heard other riders from here complain about the same. Its been at least a quarter now and they still havent arranged for the test ride bike for me.

The Speed Triple 1200 RS launched In India, priced at Rs 16.95 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India.) The bike comes with a 16,000km service interval and a 2 years/unlimited km warranty. Bookings are open across all Triumph dealerships.







Powering the Speed Triple 1200 RS is a new 1160cc, inline-triple that makes 180hp at 10,750rpm and 125Nm at 9,000rpm, which is 30hp and 8Nm more than before. Triumph has also managed to reduce the weight of the engine by 7kg.



The Speed Triple 1200 RS gets top-shelf components with Brembo Stylema calipers, and fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at either end.
