Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

So tomorrow I am going to fix the intercooler and connect the Intake manifold to turbo! Gotta buy a few gaskets and grade 10 fasteners. Day after tomorrow possibly first start and Dynojet Tune can start to work it's magic.
I have been already at work for past 10 days, developing a mathematical model for air flow. Will punch in those values in VE tables in tune ( volumetric efficiency), upload them to bike's computer and hope it will start!
Why hope, quite confident that it will, after all this is 3rd time i am doing this.
Some people say auto tune will take care! No it won't! Will explain in next video.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

So, finally injectors are now installed, length was compensated, how? Of course no one is going to tell you trade secrets. Tmap sensor is installed, although it will work as map sensor alone, not hooking up Inlet temperature sensor built-in. This bikes manifold already has a seperate vtemperature sensor , so no need to hook up temps from new temp+map sensor.
Final assembly + oil circuit connections to turbo remain. Hope to get them done in 2-3 days!

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Finally, all of turbo plumbing hooked up! Intercooler is ready to be bolted as well. Had some problems with oil circuit.
Hopefully this weekend will see it's first start!

Having heart trouble, was experiencing some chest discomfort after covid, ignored it for some time thinking it's just post covid trouble.
It continued to get worse, so got the check up done. Looks like will have to get angioplasty done soon.
Motorcycle is standing incomplete with almost 75-80% work done.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

My angioplasty has been scheduled for 24th march, for now getting hardware upgrade of two stents as informed.
I need to get some miles under me before that on Turbo fat bob, else all that hardwork is going to go down the drain.
After all doc screw up all the time.lol
By the way felling much better while walking and doing things being on 7 different meds.

What a coincidence that the man and machine both are getting their hardware upgrades. Good to know you are feeling better and I’m sure you’ll be perfectly alright soon to complete this amazing project..

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Great work, trust you have installed a wideband and I had one more question, where are you planning to test and tune? Street or Dyno?

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Will be tuned on street with dynojet target tune wide band kit.
After Tune is sorted, will run on stock o2 sensors, wide band use only for tuning sessions.

Interesting thread , just one question. Wouldn’t having the intercooler in front of the cylinders create any problems with airflow over the fins ? Overheating issues later on ?
