A friend recently took delivery of the MT-01. I have asked him to join in the discussion.

Ask him to change the mirrors ASAP. Cant see anything behind with those stock mirrors - we use the mirrors from a 1300 cruiser instead.

Even with R1 officially launched, grey market bikes are still selling in higher number as more colour options are available and cost difference is like ~2L

Congrats to your friend, sir. I'm not too fond of the 'bazooka' cans under tail, but the bike has character. BTW are those pushrod tunnels or the more exotic bevel mechanism? Desmo??

You should hear them while you're riding the bike - its addictive. Those pipes are meant for the rider to listen to, not for the public (not very loud).

Pushrod tunnels. Nothing very exotic about this engine - Cubic Capacity does all the work.

But the 2L would be nothing when it comes to the point that the bike is completely legal with all papers+service backup+insurance which is a huge huge plus.

So its more like the additional 2L = peace of mind!

Ain't it!

I'm told the grey market route will continue as many customers prefer it for the safe bet it is for unaccounted cash. Indian market dynamics!!!

You ride a bike, just like you ride the wave, & ridden is a valid word.

Thank you...Finally some one... Have grown tired of people driving two-wheelers..

Ah, that's the trick. Tail mounted cans give better acoustics? I recall this article on the early Fireblades causing pillion rider headaches over long rides- ostensibly due to carbon monoxide fumes eddying right up to them. Don't know how they sorted that out but they did.

They look fat. Nice and fat- reminiscent of the Norton Manx engine, if I've got it right.

For an R1/6? Perfect fit, I think. No good on this bike, though - they're not wide enough and you dont get to see much beyond your shoulderpads. I bought 1999 XJR 1300 mirrors that were recommended by a lot of people on some MT01 user forum. Its a bit big for this bike, but serves the purpose beautifully.
