not 14.. was thinkin and this thing came to my mind :
just an approx calculation:

the crv 4wd AT costs usd 24000 in us, which is 9.6lacs and it sells double the amount here.
the r1 costs 4.6Lacs in US and it should cost around 10-10.5 here

import duty for bikes is around 20% lesser than that of cars, if I remember right.

dont remember the actual figures. will try and get them though.

20% but as per my knowledge its 105-110% for new bikes and 140% for old ones after revision from 170%.

Yamaha R1 & MT-01 Ad

good news who are waiting for these logging on after 2 days shocked to see that no news about this so here goes. yamaha has started the advert to mt01 and the r1. just saw the ads about 5 times in one hour. no names included though just 2 bikes sporting what they do best. and then yamaha logo comes. so its all set to launch.

Yamaha is showing the frazar [the naked version]ad also, that new with no indian built bikes at the end of it. Yamaha is trying to get people talking about YAMAHA, before any new bike...... good marketing...

They say in US the R1 costs USD 5500.. Yeah right!! even the MT's pricing is all wrong

Those are MSRP. R1 will sell for below 10K US. Maybe they are giving India a special "John" discount
