Safe to assume that the Ninja will be released around the same time-frame?

Hopefully not. It should be launched much before that.

Got it from someone in Mumbai who didn't want it. Brand new!

No, I've never been to Juhu on it. Only had it for just over 2 weeks now and the last week it has just been raining. I don't like to ride it in the day too, just too much aggravation due to the damn traffic. Even in my car I visit the suburbs (only up to Bandra) once in 6 months. The city and traffic has gone to the dogs.

BTW, I live in town, extreme southern end of Mumbai. What do you ride?

I visited the Yamaha factory showroom at malad today.Spoke to the sales guy there, asked him about where do they stock their bikes.Apparently they have quite a lot of bike's been stocked in delhi.

There was just this thought which came to my mind. Now that the new '09 R1 has been launched, and soon it would hit the showroom's, including the one's in Australia from where we get our bikes. So i guess these existing stock bikes would become baggage bikes and wouldn't they be sold with discount's? say by the end of the year? hmmm...let's see!

Vasai Yamaha Debut...!

Kinda old thread to bump up, but nevertheless.....

The official Yamaha showroom just opened doors here in Vasai. Had been to the christening yesterday. "Paras Yamaha". Owned by a couple of very hospitable surds.

Thankfully, these guys are giving tests. Dunno if this is applicable to all. I'm going in for a FZ16 test today. Maybe another detailed test of the R15 as well, time permitting...

Nobody commented on the non-availability of the R1 or the MT-01 for display, but someone lamented that the bikes CAN be sold through this showroom, although the official service centre would still be the one at Malad. Ah. Let's see. More details tomorrow. The FZ-1000 SKD rumour was confirmed, though....

Guys,

Any idea of the R6 launch? And how much it might cost OTR in Bangalore?

R6 or any bike below 600 cc is not planned because of the homologation hurdles.

The hurdle is that only import of bikes above 800cc are allowed in india legally like these bike manufacturers have brough in.
the reason being that this law was made to allow harley davidson to bring in their bikes.all of which are above 800cc.least being 833cc.
but harley backed off because of the high taxes but other manufacturers did not and brought their litre and above bikes.

Yes, it is. They plan to launch it after the FZ1 next year.

That rule doesn't exist anymore. Suzuki will launch the gixxer 600 sometime next year, but it will be homologated unlike the Busa, Intruder & the gixxer 1000. Guess who told me that .

If you've noticed, the Busa and the Intruder don't have a saari guard like the Yamaha's. Its because they were not homologated by ARAI.
