Aprilia Tuareg 660 listed on the brand’s Indian website. Edit: Now launched at 18.85 lakhs

Aprilia seems to be gearing up to launch the Tuareg 660 in the Indian market. The ADV has just been listed on the brand’s Indian website.

The Aprilia Tuareg 660 is an off-road-oriented adventure bike with a rugged design. It has an LED headlamp with a visor on top, a single-piece seat and a raised handlebar.

The Tuareg 660 is powered by the same 659cc, parallel-twin engine as the RS660 and Tuono 660. On the ADV, the engine is tuned to produce 79 BHP and 70 Nm and paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike rides on a fully adjustable 43 mm upside-down Kayaba fork at the front and a Kayaba mono-shock at the rear.

Seems to be a great option for the segment - but towards the upper end of the pricing in this segment.

Was really impressed with this one particular review-

re: Aprilia Tuareg 660 listed on the brand’s Indian website. Edit: Now launched at 18.85 lakhs

An extraordinarily capable bike and one I would LOVE to have in my garage. But unfortunately there simply isn’t a world in which I can justify spending this kind of money on a 660 Tuareg, when a Tiger 900 RP can be had for similar / lesser money (not to mention the equally exotic and even more compelling Desert X for just a smidgen more). I’m not even getting into the wider service footprint and what not for the Triumph.

If it had gone head on with the Transalp on pricing it would have been another matter altogether. At this price, it is for the enthusiast who wants the Tuareg 660 and absolutely nothing else will do. Not too dissimilar to the RS 660 pricing either. Can’t imagine how one can justify its price over numerous more capable offerings that can be had cheaper still like Street Triple, Monster, ZX 6R, CB 650 R etc.

Aprilia has gone the Skoda route with the pricing .

With current conversion rates (INR 90.34 vs EUR), plus import duties for a 2W CBU (50%), the European (Italian) prices of EUR 11,999.00 translates to INR 16.26L.

I expected some 15L as a premium over the Japanese but this is pure madness. Superb way to kill a product!

With the Honda Transalp and the Suzuki VStrom 800 priced around 11 - 15L would have been exclusivity for the brand, but I don't see how the market would pay another 5L for it!

24L on road Bangalore for a 660cc?

I am absolutely thrilled! Around 30 years ago, I carefully framed a picture of a red Tuareg and hung it in my tiny 5x10 bedroom. It wasn't a Madonna, Michael Jackson, or even a Rocky Balboa poster, (which were all the rage back then). Instead, it was this beautiful Aprilia motorcycle with massive 'button tyres' that captured my imagination. Pricing seems to be high up, though.

The pricing is atrocious! What were Aprilia thinking when pricing this above the Tiger and the Africa Twin!
The Tuareg is good yes, but not at this price point. The Transalp and Vstrom 800 feel like a much better deal now. Even the Tiger 900 feels value for money!

If indeed, this is the pricing, then its Dead on Arrival (sadly though!)! Globally the pricing of Tuareg is more or less similar to its direct competition i.e. Ténéré, Transalp, 800DE. The 900RP, 890ADV & DesertX are a notch above.

Happy to see the Tuareg getting ready for India. I think if they can get the dealer & service network right, it will be an excellent touring choice for Indian roads.

For those looking to buy this, just keep in mind that Aprilia accessories and spares are really expensive compared to the competition.

Got a PDF pricing sheet of the full range on one of my riding groups. I’ve now included the PDF sheet in my post above.

This is also consistent with the pricing reported by Bikewale on their Insta page (link below).

One media channel says Aprilia claims the prices will be different than these rumoured ones upon launch in the coming weeks.

Let's hope it is drastically different and not just a few last digits

I think (and sincerely hope!!) these are speculations and rumours!

It would be extremely foolish of Aprilia to price this anything more than 10-12% than the Transalp/800DE, which is the direct competition in India right now. This would keep the pricing in line with the differences these have in the global markets as well.

I agree with you and can only hope you are right but do remember what the RS 660 pricing was like. That too was pretty rich IIRC. Hopefully this initial public backlash will bring some sense.

Bikewale’s Insta post also indicates that the exact prices are to follow but until then, this is all we have to go by.

Aprilia Tuareg 660 price revealed for India: 18 - 22 Lacs

From BikeWale:

The Tuareg 660 is a thoroughbred off-road-oriented motorcycle with a slim and tall build. The bike's fascia comprises twin triangle-shaped LED headlights topped by a transparent visor, and the bodywork comprises a wide fuel tank which contributes to the majority of Tuareg’s visual mass.
Powering the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is a 659cc parallel-twin engine that makes 80bhp and 79Nm. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox and this setup is nestled in a tubular frame. It is suspended by 43mm upside-down front forks and a progressive linkage rear monoshock. The Tuareg 660’s braking hardware includes twin discs at the front and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These are mounted on spoke wheels wrapped in knobby tyres.

Aprilia has also equipped the Tuareg 660 with quite a few rider aids including four ride modes with two customisable modes, switchable ABS, traction control, cruise control, engine map and engine brake control and a five-inch TFT.

Once launched, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 will rival the Suzuki V-Storm 800DE, BMW F850GS, and the Honda XL750 Transalp. However, it is likely to be the most expensive offering in its class.

Why even bother launching at such atrocious prices?
