BMW has made several changes to the S 1000 XR for the 2024 model year. The touring bike gets a completely redesigned seat, which is set at a height of 850 mm, a new front fairing with dual LED headlights and an adjustable windshield.

BMW claims the improved ergonomics make the bike more manoeuvrable on the road as well as on the racetrack. The rear section now features new side panels and air intakes inspired by motorsports.

The S 1000 XR is powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder engine. It develops 168 BHP @ 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 9,250 rpm, allowing the bike to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.25 seconds and has a top speed of 253 km/h.

The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR comes with the Touring and Dynamic package. Standard features include Rider Modes Pro, Heated Grips and Headlight Pro with adaptive turn turning light and cruise control. The bike also gets Keyless Ride, TPMS and a USB charger.

Riders can customize their bike with the optional M package. It includes a special colour scheme, M Sport seat, M lightweight battery, M forged wheels, M Endurance chain, M GPS-Laptrigger, sports silencer and a tinted sports windscreen.

Current owners of the S1000-XR, how comfortable is that seat over long distance? It looks quite thin. I have been eyeing S1000-XR for a while now, however that thin seat has been stopping me.

Has anyone bought a 2024 XR? If someone has, appreciate a heads up on the overall feel of the bike. This bike is a unicorn, hardly ever see one, even the older models.

Cheers

Don't own one but from what I've read in some forums is its way better than the older gen's seats, which resembled a shallow bowl and was a pain in stop-go conditions when keeping the legs down. They didn't have much space to move around either as the shape of the seat meant you're stuck in one position. Many have switched to the 2024 model's seats and are very happy I hear. But there's no substitute to a proper test ride so try it yourself and figure out.

Had a fairly long-ish test ride a few months back and it is a good bike that feels expensive. It sure does turn heads. Goes like a missile and handles really well. Has almost every creature comfort you would want from the factory so that is a good thing.

If you want a fast road focused tourer, this is a very good option no doubt but honest to god, it didn't feel like it was worth around 12 lacs more than the Ninja 1000- which does everything that the XR can. Another issue is the heat- this 1000cc gets hot in traffic- very quickly. The Kawasaki runs significantly cooler than this. And BMW service has become expensive. They have moved to hourly labor for every single item and more often than not, just the labor rate is close to 9-11k for services.
