All the Specs of the 09 seem to be same compared to the 2008 R1, only difference of a longer bore and shorter stroke , and 09 weighs 30 kgs(Dry v/s wet weight?) more than 08 R1 , So will power be sacrificed?

Don't be so sure. They haven't given the power figures of the '09 and the bike has a new engine as well.

Thats funny coz as years pass technology should help stuff get lighter.
30kg is too much. Typo?

In my opinion, the '09 R1 falls flat on its face when it comes to looks, especially when viewed from head on and front three-quarters. Looks bug-eyed (check pic). eecks, why did Yamaha had to do that and ruin one of the most beautiful bikes of all times.

That is one killer bike. The red line with the black makes it more attractive to look at.
Wudn't the price be a little more than the current R1?

Hidious. The the current 2008 R1 is way better to look at.seems they were too inspired by the new 1000RR.
Out of all the current superbikes i found the R1 the best of them all to look at.and now.eeeuh!

Despite all the shortcomings mentioned it will still be faster than the previous gen, no doubt because of high torque afforded by the unique firing order.

If it sounds anything like the motoGP M1, then expect a drop in sales.

The music is gone....and with it, the romance of the inline4 superbike. It sounds rough.
