1983 Honda NightHawk 650cc 60HP

Hi All,

One of my friend is interested < Let's say he wants to get it 100% by this weekend > to buy a 1983 Honda NightHawk 650cc 60HP Imported bike.

This bike is in Bangalore and the price quoted by the seller is 1.8 L. Do you think it's a fair price for the bike? Should 1.5 L be ok or lesser?

Bike's papers are in order and it was imported with all duty paid in 1992.

Observations made are:

1. Probably piston rings should e changed, else everything in superb condition

2. Shocks might have to be changed

The bike is in running as of now and well maintained. No rust anywhere on the outside parts.

The link below has pics and specifications of the bike:

1983 Honda CB 650 SC Nighthawk specifications and pictures

Experts,

Please let me know if the price mentioned in the prev thread is ok or not? Also, suggest what price needs to be quoted for this bike?

Nice bike. But too old. Remember, its a shaft drive. Whats the reason he is going in for this one? Why not stick to mainstream bikes made in mid-90's? If its a budget thing, why not go for a used comet?

25 years old. Parts maybe an issue. "Piston rings to be changed" is more easily said then done. Its like opening a Pandora's box on a 25 year old bike. Cosmetics are the least of your worries.

Quote 1 lakh, if the seller says RD's are going for much more. Walk away.

I would ceartinly not put my money on this old horse.Try for some other bike no douts the bike look's good. But even keep in mind it's a old babe as well. She will be very difficult to maintain and parts will also be very expensive i guess.

for 1.8 u could get a decent 400 i guess much newer
why do u want a 25 year old bike anyways
unless u are a collector

if u really wanna enjoy spend 1 lakh on a RD and spruce it up. that will really give u a kick
or if u wanna trouble fee ride get the comet man. it will also serve as ur daily ride without any hiccups

Unless its a collectors item, I would't pay that kind of money. there are much better options to be had in that price range.

Hi all,

Thank you for your responses.

My friend is looking for a naked bike from 500cc onwards ... He saw a Fazer 1000 but it was sold within two days of seeing it.

Since then been searching in vain. He came across this bike and it looked good and has been maintained well. It's been used daily.

He checked out superbikes like Ninja but didnt like it as he doesnt want to ride it bending down so much.

If any one of you know about any naked bike for sale, pls let me know

Cheers

I owned one of those, so couldn't resist posting here. Mine had a problem with the stator not recharging the battery due to short rides at low RPM. This was in the US. Had to tow it in thrice. Finally bought a charger from Walmart and that fixed all issues. Used to charge the battery overnight every weekend. Have some nice memories of that bike.

Hi All,

Bike's gonna be in for a photoshoot tomorrow morning , so I will be posting the photos by afternoon.

Also, require some info from your end:

1. Where in Bangalore do we get good jackets for riding the bike ?

2. Any US website link for the bike parts ?

Cheers,
