Re: A Brand New 600 CC + bike needed

I would say go and buy a kawasaki. They are backed by Bajaj when it comes to service and spares. And there are no Horror stories.

HD has bad service.
Procuring spares of Ducati is an issue as mentioned by others. Service would be in the same league.
Suzuki india has no enough experience [I may be wrong though]
Yamaha is *Best* but, Again, you need to run through the list of official importers and then check and buy. Officially, Yamaha sells 2/3 superbike models in india. R1 and MT01.

Since you are in Mumbai, I suggest you come down to Pune for a day as ALL the brands short-listed by you have their showrooms here. You can take multiple test rides (some back to back) & then take a call. Triumph shall be the first showroom as you enter Pune, then BMW & Kawasaki at Wakdewadi. Infact, Yamaha & Honda are side by side bang opposite Kawasaki!. You can even check out Aprilia / Moto Guzi & the HDs.

I love my 2009 Yamaha R6 (aka Mistress "Raven") even though I feel a tad too old riding it at almost 42 (because the Harley Davidson is going to be my midlife crisis twenty years from now)

Did you finally zero in on anything? Curious to know where you're headed after all the inputs.

My long-list (in no particular order) after a bit of research online:

1. Yamaha FZ1 (just around the 10L mark; I've seen used examples for much less, though)
2. Suzuki Bandit (new is beyond budget; so look for in the used bike market; haven't seen many examples so might be difficult to find one)
3. Triumph Street Triple (around 9L; naked styling, rave reviews)
4. Kawasaki Z800 (big bike feel, weighty, aggressive naked styling, superbly priced, should come under 9L OTR)
5. Harley Davidson Iron 883/Superlow 883 (will need a lot of customization to make it touring-worthy; not usable in stock form for touring)
6. Triumph Bonneville (deceptively quick for its staid looks; a worthy upgrade coming from a Bullet 500)
7. Kawasaki Ninja 650 (superb touring machine; decent for the occassional city jaunts too)
8. Harley Davidson Street bob (new is beyond budget; look for in the used bike market; less likelihood of finding one!)

Re: A Brand New 600 CC + bike needed

Hello,

I'm in the market to buy a 600cc+ bike. Budget is 6-8 lacs. And I'm not interested in the HD's or Ninja650's. I'm in particular looking for a R6 or CBR. Anyone over here having any info on dealers or individuals selling these bikes.

Any help would be helpful.

Forget about any clean 600cc SuperSports, if you're into naked street bikes, have a look at the fz-1, used ones are available for almost as less as 5 lakhs. What exactly are your requirements?

Man tell me where is the FZ1 for less than 5 lacs? I saw two adverts, one is on Classifieds, quoting 7.75 and another is here in Pune, quoting 9.20.

My requirements are not much. Doesnt matter if clean / grey. Bike should be preferably not older than 2006-07. And as mentioned between 6-7 lacs. Can stretch another 50-75k if bike is exceptionally good.
