Hope you have seen the following thread

Since Bonniville is a model they are bringing out - hopefully they would have someone trained on it. And I am sure they will help out with direct imports as well - Triumph UK Sales and Service team usually makes sure of this (I have seen this happening in some other locations)

Consumables/aka - oil, oil filterd etc are pretty much standard and infact filters are same size of some Honad sbks.

Any other spares - ebay and with my Dubai links its not an issue even if Triumph India does not stock spares.

On another aspect I am pretty much a DIY chap and regular service oil change, chain adjust etc, I have been doing, even in Dubai, as there were no Triumph dealer in Dubai, when I got the bike, though the TBHPian Britshbanger was of immense help in this regard.

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Ram,

What is your riding gear? What do you normally wear for your short rides? What kind of boots would be comfortable on the Bonnie

Cheers

KPS, to be honest, on short rides in Dubai, I have used al kinds of clothes including my business suit. The Bike looks classy enough that you can get away with your office wear even, if you are ok with marking your favourite office shoes.

But normally I am on my Hood Kevlar Lined Jeans (with armouring on knees), Mesh Type Ridding Jaclet (armoured on back, elbows and shoulders with removable lining for winters), and above ankle boots - I use a steel toed Timberland Water Proof Boots. (I use my Alpinestars on really long outings only).

My lid - AGV K3 or Shoie Open face

Honestly the Timberlands are more comfortable and suits the classic ergonomics of the Bonnie (my personal choice)

Shub, I am all set thanks to you as well. Now as you know nursing my big toe to health.

Bonnie will be out on Bangalore roads in December itself

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Ram

Triumph Bonneville - with new Indian ID

Fixed up the number plate in the rear and the sticker in the front.

The Plate is spot on and a big thanks to Shubz for organising the plate.

The sticker - its functional - but not a good fit. The Mudguard as you know is slightly "parabolic" in profile both logitudanally and horizontally. So I should hvae cut the sticker "concave sided" on all 4 sides. Since I didn't do it, it has become crinckled. Will rectify it on the next try

Couple of pohotos of the handi work

Ram, congrats bro on getting the plates.

I know how gratifying and satisfying it must feel to someone who has gone by the book to finally see the plates on his bike and to finally be able to take the bike on to the road.

Enjoy your rides!

Thanks Doc.

B12rr - Thanks. Unfortunately I will be leaving on Sunday and hence, won't be able to ride. But planning to do a small ride with Shubz, Saturday next (14th Dec) if he manages to get his 883 by then

By the way she is not much to "hear" as they say "good lasses are to be seen and not heard"

No offence to anyone please

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Ram

Hi Ram Sir, congratulations on your Triumph in registering your dream bike in India.

Could you please let us know the procedures at Dubai Customs & Indian Customs that you went through in order to bring the Bonny into india from dubai [duties, forms invoved]?

Dubai's weather is killer for 8 months, but for the remaining 4 months you just want to get a bike to ride rather than a car to drive.

This is where i miss India the most [apart from missing family].

Dubai Customs, no issues at all - your clearing and forwarding agent will take care of everything.

India Customs - big head ache - but still managable. 113% duty on the depreciated value of the bike + Clearing Charges etc amounting to about INR 60K etc.

Honest and frank advise - Buy a new Bonnie here in India - available at a launch price of INR 5.6 Lackhs. Its not worth importing a Bonnie to India anymore. May be other bikes

I am an old fool who has some sentimental reasons in bringing the Bonnie to India (like preserving my 1985 RD 350)

Don't talk to me about Dubai weather but it was no excuse for us not to ride - as we used to ride and still ride all 12 months of the year with a 4.30 am start in summer time

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Ram

The price 5.6L is ex showroom Delhi. To other locations it may go up to 5.8 or 5.9 lacs!

Mr Ram,

Day 1 with the Guzzi - 676 kms - it is a beauty.

When you are here, will use your camera skills to put together an email for the inmates here.

Take care and stay well.

Rerg,

Rerg,

Joji,

The Guzzi looks lovely. In the second picture the actual colour is closer to reality. Give it to the Italians everytime for "Design"

600 odd KMS in the first ride - though I hate to admit, I am already missing the UAE/Dubai Roads.

Contrast my first ride in Bangalore with Bonnie - today a measly 115 KMS. But have to say the scenery was simply uncomparable, with the seas of sands.

I will be too happy to help you with the pics anytime, not that my skills in that department are better than yours.

Has the intro to the family done yet ?

With Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Ram

Re: Triumph Bonneville - My New Ride in Dubai. EDIT - Now in Bangalore, India.

Mr Ram,

Congrats on the first ride.

Yes the scenery must be beautiful compared to the stark bleakness out here.

NO! The "Family" is unaware of the Guzzi, I am attaching a photo of where it is in hiding, you will understand.

It is home with the other 'beauties' hidden from the family.

Take care and stay well.

Reg,

JK
