New diesel SUV

My friend needs a new diesel suv (4X4 preferred) and can wait max till june..

BUDGET :Below 25L

OPTIONS:

NISSAN X TRAIL : GOOD but 28L
MITSUBUSHI PAJERO : Need your help
FORD ENDEAVOUR : WOW wish it had more power. Can anything be done ?
HYUNDAI TUSCON : nah too small
TATA SAFARI : Scary handling
TOYOTA INNOVA : Awesome but not an SUV
MAHINDRA SCORPIO : Scary handling

Plaese note that the car will be chauffer driven 80% of the time.
Mileage is not a major concern.
The car will not be taken to climb mountains but will be taken off road often so 4X4 is necessary.

Please give positive and negatives for the first three cars in the above list.

Also is it possible to import a BMW X3 if yes how much will it cost???.

ALL help will be highly appreciated thanks in advance !!!!

the endeavour is getting a power upgrade soon ... it'll be a 2.5L 143bhp mill with 33.3kgm torque

the pajero CRZ 4x4 is available for 19.5 lac OTR here in delhi ... 2.8L 120 odd bhp with 29.8kgm torque ... great car in its time ...best offroader of the lot ... but its an old model with an underpowered engine by today's standards.

btw .. i hope its not the chauffer who'se gonna take it off road

NISSAN X TRAIL : GOOD but 28L
#i think you've got it wrong...x-trail comes in the range 22-25L#

MITSUBUSHI PAJERO : Need your help
#the old pajero is still available at an attractive new price of 18L, but its damn outdated style...off road capability is very high!
mitsubushi montero (new pajero's successor) and outlander(around 15L) to be launched soon...dont know when#

FORD ENDEAVOUR : WOW wish it had more power. Can anything be done ?
#new endeavour with crdi engine of output around 145bhp to be launched soon...refer autocar india april06 issue#

HYUNDAI TUSCON : nah too small
#a stylish suv with a crdi engine...if its too small, you can go for its big brother - terracan...awesome engine (crdi) with huge torque and power#

#CHEVROLET CAPTIVA(15L) to be launched soon...dont know when#

Also is it possible to import a BMW X3 if yes how much will it cost???.
#dont know for sure...but it should be around 50L#

#i would wait for the endeavour crdi...its got all that i want - power, bulk,VFM,crdi engine and understated style...if you want more style, go to autopsyche...seen the endeavour that he has modified???...awesome!!!...check that out#

The terracan got withdrawn from the market about 4 months back

I think that the Safari Dicor is the best bet. since the car would be chauffer driven, nothing comes close to the Dicor in terms of rear seat comfort.

O.T. Of course Steeroid wouldn't know anything about that one since i doubt he has ever been in the rear seat of his Dicor !

Steeroid no matter what I could not convince my friend for the safari or scorpio.

My friend told me the x trail is nearly 28L OTR hyderabad.
X3 is surely not 50L it should be nearly 30L because X5 is 50L ....

#check the x-trail prices once again...#
#u asked how much it will cost to import a BMW X3 and thats what i answered when i said around 50L....on second thoughts, why should you import it? its available through BMW showroom...they import it as per your order and the nearest one to Hyderabad will be Bangalore Showroom...try to contact them for the details like price, import procedure(if any),etc...#

The idea wasnt to convince you or your friend but to clarify on the part about handling.

the mistubishi outlander , chevrolet captiva will compete with he honda cr-v ... they are urban SUV's ... no serious offroading capabilities .... the endeavour is tougher that these 3 anyday ...can handle some rough roads pretty well....but pajero is a true offroader ...

here's a link that might help:
http://www.bsmotoring.com/2005/jul09_1.htm

p.s: no cooldude ... haven't driven the pajero
