Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

I need the vehicle to accommodate the 5th passenger.
I need good amount of boot space.
So Duster it is.

Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

As a Duster 110 owner, I still stay, Duster is better in terms of space/ride. It's really practical car and very comfortable to drive even in City and heavy traffic.

The only thing I say bad about their service/CS in hyderabad, otherwise it's pretty much proven car.

I agree, the price is high and no gadgets which can be bought aftermarket but space/ride is more important at this price.

I guess, ES is going to eat sales of premium hatches and City/Verna sales than Duster.

Let's watch next few month sales charts.

BTW, If price is only matters, no would have bought Innova at 17-18 lakhs (V variant).

I beg to differ. I really like the Duster too but the only advantages it has got over the EcoSport is that it can seat one more, accommodate a little more luggage and ride better. The fact that those come along with its relatively poor performance in other areas like looks, features, handling, build quality, fit and finish, price, efficiency, interior design (after all it is from a brand that does not even try posing as an upmarket one) and support means that the EcoSport will definitely chew into the Duster's sales.

The chubby Renault will still have a sizable market which I am sure Nissan will maintain with their supposedly more "premium" version of the Dacia but until then, I for one (and I'm sure I'm not alone) think that the Duster's sales will dip.

As for your point on the Innova Sir, might I remind you that that is a result of it being a Toyota. A brand everyone doesn't mind paying for given their reliability, quality, maturity in the game, general popularity and their ability to hold on to their market value

It's not Ford's DSG. The powershift gearbox is made by the German gearbox manufacturer, Getrag.
They ironically also sell DSG gearboxes to Renault-Nissan among others.

But yes, the powershift gearboxes are very durable and offer tremendous performance.

Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

Personally I prefer sticking to specialist to do the job. Its either a proper sedan or a proper SUV. I'm not really an soft-SUV person. But hey that personal.

For the sake of choosing between the two I think Ecosport has hit the right spot. With quality of materials, interior design and over all fit and finish it edges out the Duster.

I voted for Eco sport 1.5 did not realise that it was manual. I wanted to vote for AT. Mod can you do something about that.

I have already booked 1.5 AT.

Thanks Mod. It's easier now. Ecosport gets my vote. A modern contemporary product loaded with features.

Duster still appears pricey as when it was launched and a age old layout inside.

If anyone wants a full blown SUV look else where.

The innumerable options made for a very complicated poll.

Replaced with a simpler, two-choice poll. You can elaborate on the engine / trim in your post.

Note : It's a public poll.

Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

Booked an EcoSport not the Duster.

For the DSG AT - Mainly - Pricing vs the Duster considering the features, Looks, Accessories options, Decent Engine when coupled with the DSG 6 Speed AT. Duster too looks good but if we add the EcoSport Features and a DSG AT then we are looking at absurd pricing.

Maybe now Nissan will reconsider and price much lower than Duster and with a lot more features - hey but won't that kill the Duster. They will have to watch the Duster sales trend and then decide on the Nissan Launch accordingly. Bad time to be a ford competitor and a ford customer (considering their dealers). Only the pricing on paper seems good.

Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

I couldn't vote neither Duster or Ecosport. In the Team-BHP poll for car of the year 2012, i voted to Ertiga eventhough my heart said Duster. The only reason i couldn't vote Duster is the price, i felt we (Indian customers) are taken for a raid by Renault.

Now i can't buy Ecosport, because i still love Duster and i can't buy Duster too as it will make feel stupid

Ecosport! Except for the horror stories about ford's A$$ , i think there's nothing else that's preventing someone from getting the ecosport given it's fantastic pricing! And the variant you ask? My vote will be for the 1.0L ecoboost!

I vote for EcoSport for sheer novelty factor and probably refined engine with great interiors. Obviously, more space inside is not my criteria.

Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

Voted for the EcoSport - Its a fairly simple choice for me. Looks good, handles well, is far more refined, don't need that extra 5th seat, has been priced wonderfully well and Ford's service.
P.S. : Just came back from a Ford Showroom where a lot of Dusters were parked outside!

From your specific perspective the EcoSport will trump that blighted MVan any day of the week. You can crack on anywhere with the 200 mm clearance and that little wicked EcoBoost will look after the Indian frugal minded-ness as well.
Interestingly you will push one seat down by invoking the smart 60:40, stick your golf bag in, still have space for two passengers besides yourself and ....need I say more?
Buy one and we can do the blessed golfbag test all over the southern golf courses, Coorg post Monsoon, Ooty anytime... hey?
For an evolved ish urban ish new age ish and stylish young ish bloke who views compactness as a virtue this is abso-bloomin-lootely the bang on car! Make no mistake about that. Just watch the next few months detailed car sales analysis and watch the Ford sales registers ring off the hook....

Re: Ford EcoSport versus Renault Duster

I voted for the Ecosport. It has clearly overtaken the Duster. The Duster has to claw its way back, can do it with a face-lift and discount. Net-net, the Duster has no business being costlier than the Ecosport
