Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

I would describe these 3 as:

Brezza: Looks more inclined towards Car than SUV so crossover.
Ecosport: Modern day contemporary SUV
TUV: Pure Traditional SUV

So isn't this matter of choice? My vote goes for Ecosport

Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

I Vote for the Brezza, firstly because I think the drive of a Brezza is superior to a Ecosport when it comes to the 'Fun to Drive' factor. Also I am the most familiar with Maruti's design theme, have owned Maruti's all my life and I would not want to move away from that.

Secondly, I am the most comfortable with Maruti's after sales service, parts prices are cheap, service stations are super friendly, down time is really less and warranty replacements are fuss free. That is why they are where they are.

Well I haven't driven a Brezza yet. Have you driven TDCI 1.5 I can bet you would definitely like it.

Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

TUV looks like a proper SUV, but thats it. The engine goes out of steam on highways and has a lot of body roll to deal with.
Brezza: Something like, jack of all trades, master of none. Looks good, runs on 90 HP Fiat diesel, drives well, has loads of gadgetry and is sure to dent Ecosport's sales numbers.
Ecosport: I drive a Fiat, so it can be percieved that ASS is not a top priority for me. Other than that, its solidly built, handles pretty well too and on top of that comes with the brilliant turbocharged petrol engine.

So my vote goes for Ecosport.

Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

I won't vote here.

But having seen all three quite carefully and closely, I would personally drop the TUV as it is quite dated and is not really upto the mark. However it is well priced, is a tough beast and certainly ticks many boxes for a value conscious buyer who also wants a little modernity in his life.

The EcoSport in its Top Spec is perfect as a City and out of city vehicle. Nice and compact. Loaded with stuff. Sadly no 4WD though.

The Brezza is extreme value for money at its price. It is an immensely practical vehicle too and will most certainly be a runaway best seller being a Maruti and because it appeals just perfectly to an Urban user with a little family, who wants to be away from the common Sedans, needs a decent GC and storage, luggage space + the feeling of being adventurous and "ready-to-go-anywhere".

Each vehicle has its strengths. Each vehicle has its weaknesses.

But none of these vehicles are really so very massively superior or inferior to each other.

The differentiator is only to the extent of the richer features available in the EcoSport vis a vis the others.

Ford Ecosport.

+ves
- Design still feels fresh.
- You need to experience the build quality, its excellent.
- Feature rich.
- Rattle free.
- Good Sound Quality
- Service costs are lower.
- Service quality is good.
- Cost of spares have been reduced (if i heard it right).
- 5 Year warranty available.
- 5th Alloy Wheel
- Practical boot space
- Superb Diesel and a Brilliant EcoBoost engine options. The NA petrol is ok.
- Transparency from Ford on service costs.

-ves
- Mediocre headlight, form over function.
- Light steering (unexpected from Ford but not Hyundai like feather light).
- Stiff ride, not great (but ok) for rear occupants especially if they are elders.
- Cannot change folder on USB and i absolute hate Ford for this.
- Useless armrest, placed higher and without a center console.
- Glove box Cooling is a myth.
- Fuse box placed behind Glove box, such an inappropriate position.
- No Auto Dimming IRVM.
- No retractable ORVMs.
- A Pillar blind spot.

To be honest, i was very skeptical when i brought the Ecosport home but now have no regrets. A 1000km drive made me respect it. Overall, its a good VFM option and i feel pretty safe with my family in it.

Cheers,
Raj

Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

I like all 3 SUVs, they stand apart in their own way with only the length in common.

USPs of the compact SUVs

Ecosport

# Solid build quality
# Powerful engine
# Best interior quality
# Best safety features
# 2 petrol options - NA and the Ecoboost
# Powerful petrol AT - Cutting edge DCT

TUV 300

# Solid build quality
# Spacious interiors
# 5+2 seating gives added versatility
# Diesel AT
# Will withstand abuse under all terrain
# True SUV feel due to ladder on frame construction and higher torque

Vitara Brezza

# Its a Maruti Suzuki
# Tried and tested national engine
# Fresh product in segment
# Best in class mileage
# Neutral interior and exterior design
# Wider tyres

My pick would be the Ecosport since it offers the best safety features, richer interiors compared to the other 2 and gives a premium feel. Add to these the price revision and the Ecosport becomes a good VFM buy. Have not driven the TUV and the Brezza hence I'm not comparing on ride quality and handling. However the others are no slouch either, each of them have their own strengths but Ecosport wins my priority as of now.

Autocar comparison between the Brezza and the Ecosport : http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-new...-401309.aspx/0 .

As per the report , on the highways , the Brezza has better punch than the Ecosport . Anyone who's driven both vehicles can comment ? Is the difference substantial or marginal ? The power to weight specs are almost the same.

I have voted for the TUV300 as it is the complete package at the price point it is coming. For me brezza is a bit under powered at only 66bhp and ecosport is a grown hatchback for me.

Vitara Breeza will be my pick. I cover like 120 + km a day, which means frequent trips for servicing and minor repairs and Maruti being the oldest company to start operations in India has a much wider network and Ford or Mahindra will take a really long time to build that kind of spider web network.

Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

I think the Ecosport is a better car than the other two, but only by a small margin.

The TUV is simply not for me. It's too utilitarian.

I haven't driven the Brezza, there's a list of things I don't like about the Brezza:
  • Lack of a petrol engine
  • Heard that the diesel has a some Turbo Lag
  • Those Kwid inspired interiors

Otherwise, I think the differences are small.
Voting for the EcoSport.

I'd buy the Brezza. Cannot go too wrong with a Maruti + Multijet.

Ecosport only if I want a petrol.
TUV only if I want a diesel automatic.

The Brezza is powered by DDiS 200 which produces 89 BHP and not 66 BHP

Re: Poll: Maruti Vitara Brezza vs Ford EcoSport vs Mahindra TUV300

Brezza and Ecosport sit quite close, but my vote is for Ecosport. Not considering TUV300 here as it never felt appealing enough.

a. Built quality of Ecosport is way better that Brezza. No competition on this parameter.
b. Remapped 1.5 TDCi is more fun than Multijet. Ecoboost is icing on the cake.
c. Ecosport is best equipped for safety.

Must say that two/three tone versions of Brezzaa are big head turner. But the appeal goes down considerably in single tone.
