See there are TATA fans who will vouch for the safari. Then there are the TATA haters who will vouch against the safari. It all depends who you are & what you want.

Are you the gambling type ??? then go for the lottery. If you are intending to keep the car for only 3-4 years, go for the pocket drainer, it wont drain that much.
or make a safe decision, get a NHC as someone suggested or wait for the new baleno.
or if you can expand your budget, get the innova.

After all this, if you still like the safari, take it man, after all you should be satisfied first.

While you're about it, check out the Rhino Rover - Bunny's been posting some nice pictures of the interiors of a version that may or may not be launched.

BUT you mentioned specific numbers for 100 - O time for scorpio., as double that of Innova and 20 meteres more than Dicor. My question is..

2. Who tested the 3 side by side ? where ? when?

3.What are the comparative numbers for all 3 vehicles?

Also The 100 - 0 braking numbers given for innova in carwale is 43.2 and for scorpio is 71.7...

Since when did 43.2 x 2 become 71.7 and NOT 86.4 ? Something does not add up.

Sorry for the wrong numbers. Here are the actuals mentioed at carewale.

100kmph-0 (Braking)meters50.3243.271.780kmph-0 (Braking)meters32.5829.744.6
Safari Innova Scorpio
You could also read this

"The brakes have been improved with more bite and quicker response, but still lack a linear feel, tending to grab at the last moment. They feel over-servoed as well: stab the brakes and the rear wheels lock up immediately. This is quite a pain, and can get scary if you're forced to brake mid-corner: over-compensate on the brakes and you'll be punished with a scream from the rear, and an already jiggly rear end stepping happily out of line. The biggest thief of confidence, however, is the over-light steering, which lacks feel, and is telegraph-like in its response and accuracy. " (Indiacar.com - MAHINDRA SCORPIO CRDe)

I DONT INTEND TO SAY THAT ITS NOT A GOOD VEHICLE. ALL I SAY THAT ITS NOT WORTH THE KIND OF MONEY THEY ARE ASKING.

To reiterate 43.2 x 2 = 86.4 NOT 71.7 and 29.7 x 2 = 59.4 NOT 44.6

SO your earlier assertion that braking numbers for Scorpio is a "neat double" that of Innova is completely wrong.

You can like / buy any car you want but you dont have to twist facts to put down other cars in the process IMO.

You have a point but these numbers are SHOCKING to say the least - those are one hell of a lot more meters for the Scorpio compared to the other two, for the 80-0 that's 40 FEET MORE compared to the Safari - that's what, about 2.5 SAFARI LENGTHS MORE!!!!!! For the 100-0, its even more.

Jeezzzz.............that's scary!!!!

W12 please try to understand that i never wanted to put down any vehicle. I just said that i dont think they have high class engineering that really needs to put it at around 1.3 lakhs above the safari. Please check the features you get at 7.14 L on the safari and the ones you get on the Scorpio. Now i would really think twice wheter i need ot pay that money just for the Engine refinement that the scorpio claims of. I dont think there is any other factor in which the scorp will come in front of the safari.

oho..!!!! is this now getting to be a fight over scorpio VS safari. I just wanted to buy a vehicle!!!

Look at it this way

If you bought and drove a Fiesta, every time you saw a Safari, you would have that ache in your heart...

Would you feel the same way driving a Safari and seeing a Fiesta?

Correct. Whatever be the assumptions or reasons it is now clear that you do not wish to consider the Scorpio, therefore we should stick to the Pocket Drainer and the Lottery.

I agree!

I called up Mahindra Dealer India Garage and asked him how he could justify the 1.2 L price diff between Dicor LX and Scorpio DX. The only hting he could come up with that the Scorpio has a Stereo (CD) as standard! Then I told him about the safari's electric mirrors and he had nothing to say.

He rambled on and on about "better service, cheaper spares etc....but by then I had logged off...."

P.S. Post no. 500!!!!
