I tried this option 7 months back.

I even located one gypsy from TNPCB chennai and was all set to enter teh auction.
Then one gentleman(an engineer in TNPCB) frankly told me that the auction is already "fixed"(underground work) and asked me not to waste my time and money.

I attended the auction and found his words true.
There will be a set of traders in each city who keep an eye on such auctions.. they take all the vehicles as a bulk.

this is from my experience..

So my advice is to go for pvt party owned good condition gypsy.
Hi Buddy,
well i cannot agree with you on this.
it might be true in Channai, but about 2 years back i had attened an Police Auction in Hyderabad and my Uncle had bought 2 Gypsy.

Since somebody mentioned about an army Gypsy auction...My uncle is in the Airforce, and he tells me that invariably all the vehicles that come to the auction are in scrap condition. All the good parts are swapped and only the worst is left in the vehicle.

Beware --- Gypsy from army auction

Dear all,

There has been a recent supreme court order that restricts 'scrap' vehicles auctioned from army etc being registered again..

So please do your homework before you buy these 'scrap' vehicles from army auctions.

I can share more details of the supreme court order if you want..

Cheers,
-SK
