now this message from dadu makes me think about ABS.
And as he puts it, i think we should have a new thread about ABS and using it. Including me (though my dicor does not have ABS), i think there are lot of people here, who require this information.

Babu, i would reccomend watching the video that one of the members pointed out on the ABS thread --http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1800252611999315129&q=Mercedes+S-Class+Offroad&pr=goog-sl

It helps explain the concept pretty well.

Tata Safari EX - 4x4 OR GX - 4x2 ?

Hi,
In the process of finalisng the model for my Safari EX - 4x4 OR GX - 4x2 . which is the best buy in terms of value for money, features ... do we need the features from the GS (especially the ABS) .

Id say got for the EX 4x4. Especially if you intend exploring places, the 4x4 is a feature you wont regret. For mostly city use, the Gx should add better pose value.
Honestly, I dont see any value in a GX. If you are looking for 4x2 then the EX 4x2 is also good. The dual tone paint job can be done outside/dealer for a pittance. Even the Reverse assist can be fitted outside. You can get your own choice of alloys and still save a packet. The faux wood in the Gx looks really fake. Except for the ABS I doubt you will miss any of the GX features in the Ex. I have not missed abs on my Safari yet.

JSL,

The only value add that GX had, IMHO, is the ABS, which (as per me) is a necessity in the 2-tonner!

But this is just my opinion. You (along with a few others) have done some very long distances and it would be interesting to see what the general Safari riders opinion are with respect to this.

I am not sure, if a ABS would have given some relief to TSK with his dancing white elephant.

I think the best option is the GX 4x4 if your budget permits. Also pay for the 4x4 only if you are very adventurous and want to push your vehicle to the limits.

The Alloys are coming standard on the EX 4X4.
I Just came back from the showroom.

The differences between EX and GX (4 X 4)
- Leather Upholstery
- ABS & EBD
- Reverse Guide
- Indicators on OVRM's

Although in 4X2 EX you dont get alloys.
Beige Interiors are still there.

Personally i feel getting EX 4X4 is of more value than getting GX in 4X2 with ABS & EBD.
