Positives for XUV700:
1. Better space management, esp for 3rd row with 50:50 fold
2. ESP now available in AX3 Diesel and AX5 Petrol
3. Budget available to go for AX5 Petrol and avoid DPF related worries - our drive will be occasional but when driven, it will mostly be on highways. So the car would be sitting idle for 4-5 days in a week and see some highway runs of ~150 odd kms the other days.
4. More comfort for 2nd row passengers being monocoque

What I dont know is which of the two is relatively niggle free? Would it be fair to assume that most of the initial niggles in the XUV have now been sorted?
Also, my SA has guaranteed delivery of either AX3/AX5 by Aug if I were to book now.

Need your help. Thank you.

Note: Mods, I have posted the same on the Scorpio-N review thread. Please move/combine if appropriate. Thanks.
Both vehicles are the best driving machines available in their respective segments , you'd be driving a lot more than you think you will.

If you are buying a petrol and you have mostly highway running especially get the XUV7OO AT, it's fantastic.

At this point given the number of vehicles on the road as well as having both vehicles in my family/ friends circle, they haven't been to the service center for any additional visits, just the regular scheduled servicing and plenty of diesel.

Thankyou Kosfactor for your valuable feedback.
I had test driven th XUV700 AT version and it was a delight as you say. But that would mean stretching the budget even more as AX5 AT 7 str is only available in Diesel. Besides the vehicle will be driven by a paid driver...so we wont get to experience the pleasure of the AT most of the time

Re: Scorpio N v/s XUV700 AX3/AX5

Get the xuv700 eyes closed. It has better features, space, performance and is a more complete family car. The xuv700 ax5 petrol at will be a good option for you in my view.

Happy motoring

Z6 is available only in Diesel Variant. The lower running doesn’t really warrant a diesel, when you compare the maintenance costs for a diesel over a longer period

Sudden banning of diesel engines can’t be ruled out , especially in Metros

XUV700 will be more refined(being a petrol), and definitely more comfortable as majority usage is in city and highway due to monocoque chassis

Both will offer be more or less the same level of niggles or niggle free experience

Final score is in favour of XUV700 as you are considering the petrol variant (vis a vis DPF, and possibility of diesel engine ban)

XUV700 - 5
Scorpio - 3

But somehow I sense that your heart has been bowled over by the Scorpio , while your mind is batting for XUV700

All the best for your purchase and keep us posted

Loved the way you have laid out the logic...like a mind reader I must say. Awesome.

Thank you all for your inputs.
So after several rounds of deliberations and toing and froing, I have decided to move my booking over to AX5 (E) P Manual 7 Str. All things considered, this seems to be the best investment of my money in the long run as we plan to keep the car for 10-15 years. Parents will be more comfortable and safer this way, and we get to enjoy better space in the 3rd row when we visit them. Will surely miss the novelty of the N, but maybe my choice for personal car in future.

SA has promised delivery in 1-2 months, I only need it by Aug. Unsure about the colour - Midnight Black and Silver are top contenders. The latter should be easier to maintain I guess.

Congrats sir, good choice ! Sure, you will miss the offroading and butch feeling of the ScorpioN but the Xuv700 is a all rounder and overall a better package in that price bracket. My dad is thinking to book it on April 6th after me and my dad researching on cars for 5 years !
