Re: Toyota Innova Hycross vs Mahindra XUV700 vs Kia Carnival vs Others

The XL6 engine with 102 bhp and 137NM will just not be adequate to pull 6 people. It will move for sure but wouldn't feel or move like a 6 seater should. The width also is too less. Your 15 yrs aren't going to be very memorable in it. But then it makes a solid value proposition. If you are not always moving with six people then ertiga/xl6 would be good as a personal car in the city for short trips with it's compact dimensions. Unless budget is a constraint look elsewhere. I would have put my money on alcazar or Innova.

The two million rupee question

Hi fellow Bhpians, i need advice. I have three cars, WagonR '17 VXI 43K km rin, petrol, City 5th gen Ivtec 21 model, 29k Km run and my baby Scross 1.6 which has clocked 140k now of which 117k was done by the previous owner and rest has been covered by me since last may 2022.

Now the problem is ever since my brother has started going to his takeaway shop in delhi, he has been using the WagonR for his daily runs due to parking space issues.

End result, my wife has taken away my baby and uses her to ferry kids from school/classes and her own travels, (part of me thinks she is just jealous that I pay more attention to my baby ,) thereby leaving the poor fat me to manage puttering around in the Ivtec.

The City is a gem of a car, no doubt but its no 1.6 D.

The vtec screams like a banshee whenever I floor it but somehow I donot feel connected to her the way Scross makes my heart goes gaga.

Add to the fact that I have been trying to lose weight , mind you I was 5'8" - 143Kgs, now at 130kg I am still a long way from having a good BMI. Coming back to the topic at hand, the lumbar support in my City V is lacking, over long highway runs my right knee gets uncomfortable.

So, I have been looking for a replacement of sorts.

The budget : INR 20LACS
The usage : 15-20k km per year at least.
Seating - at min 2 at max 6 with bags.
Must be good to drive and safe as I have kids 2 with tails and 2 without that might travel with me occasionally and my parents, both are Sr Citizens now.

Please advice what car should I buy .

Following vehicles I have shortlisted

1. Kia Carens - for the 7 seats and the new turbo GDI

2. ScorpioN - Big Daddy (?) Not so sure.

3. Hycross Gx

4 . Innova G

5. Gurkha

6. Safari

Though I have checked out Carens/ScorpioN. Rest will be checked over this week as I plan to put down booking for at least One other vehicle. I have already booked ScorpioN at a friends advice but it was more of an impulsive decision. Now that i think about it, i have to weigh my choices. Midlife crisis and all , more salt pepper than black and yada yada.

So please, help me out guys. I need to make the right choice as I plan to keep the car till it gives out on me or till the Government pries it off my hands due to bans.

Regards,
