New Tata Safari or Innova?

Hi Friends,

Just want to take a quick poll on what you folks would recommend... I am looking at one of these vehicles to serve both my 40km per day drives to work and also a weekend getaway to the forest which i do once a month. My criteria is as follows:
1) reliability
2) drive comfort as i will be driving atleast 2 hours a day in Bangalore traffic.
3) Diesel as my drives arre long
4) Low maintenance costs

I am not keen on the Scorpio. My budget is about 10 to 15 lakhs.

Thanks

Amit

The VTT 2.2 is a favorite on the forum. It will be more enjoyable as opposed to the Innova.

Hi Amit,
The requirement itself shouts out the need for a Safari as against the Innova.

Test drive both of them you'll notice these

1) INNOVA good because of its Interiors
2) INNOVA good Cruiser

BUT

1) INNOVA no fun only utility car
2) INNOVA not very Comfortable compared to the BEAST
3) INNOVA not a BEAST,

AND

1) SAFARI best cruiser for the road and off the road as well
2) SAFARI Best in driving comfort.
3) SAFARI best for the comfort for every one in the car
4) SAFARI better in all respects

GO DRIVE MAN.

One test drive can change your opinion.

I am not sure how much of off-roading do you mean when you say forrest.

I would also advice you to test-drive both of them, and take a call yourself.

Safari is no-doubts a beast, but the fit and finish is questionable. Innova would certainly last you longer than the Safari.

Do let us know what you decide upon, and your reasons

i believe that Innova doesnt have a 4x4 variant.

it is a minivan.

it has a taxi image though the top model looks different.

Safari VX 4x4 is a full package considering your budget

you will get best of both worlds i.e. onroading and offroading

and not to mention the Road Presence

so my suggestion is Safari 2.2 VX 4x4 all the way.

For bangalore traffic even Safari would be big, but will be easier to handle in Bumper to Bumper traffic compared to Good sweet barge - innova.

I am also contemplating between these two and finding it difficult to decide between the two, I'll be buying either of the two this week.

My requirements are as follows and in that order.
1. Comfort: since my grandfather will be using it (chauffeur driven), he travels 50k kms per year, and he just turned 80 last year .
2. Good ride quality: 90% highway use, but some rough roads as well.
3. Low maintenance.
4. Fuel Efficiency.

so which one do you suggest out of these two?

does the innova underbody scrape easily while going over broken roads?

IMP - I would recommend the Innova anyday considering your grand father is going to be using it. And man hats off to him for travelling 50k a year even at his age!

I've never had the Innova underbody scrape even under full load so I don't think that's an issue to worry about.

This forum consists lenght and breadth details and reports about the SAFARI-THE BEAST.

When there are so many enthusiasts giving their reviews,

Go by law of averages.

INNOVA is a good family mover

SAFARI is a good family mover with lots of excitement and better comfort , better driveability, and better road presence than the INNOVA

Moreover INNOVA has gone to taxi operators.

Our BEAST is still a BIG TOY for BIG BOYZ

I say man go in and test drive both today.

Be a judge yourself.

After all you are investing that big amount.

Pick what your mind and heart says.

Well ur requirements tilt the scale towards Innova. Its MUCH more reliable, driveable and maintainence free as compared to a Safari. Also a well maintained Innova looks good and IMO more 'uber cool' than a Safari.

Safari is pure macho toy!. Its a experience in itself but too many niggles/hassels can be a headache.

Finally test drive BOTH to come to a self satisfying decision

Pavan, you've made the point lol - now give the man time!

Also, if he does happen to like the Innova & buys it eventually, so be it mate!
