1994 Gypsy for 2.5 lakhs???

Guys,

I was just looking for some fun as I had nothing to do at home. Went into a second hand car showroom which had multiple models on display. There was a white Gypsy which I liked and asked the price for it. The dealer informed me its 2.5 lakhs and not negotiable. The car is run for about 54,000 KMS. Is it worth it?

I was thinking instead of paying so much for a second hand gypsy, I can buy a new jeep!

Way too much asking, look around you would find a decent deal. Used jeep makes more sense than a new one...

No way. I own a 2002 1.3 MPFI Gypsy King -- had paid 2.5 L for it. So the dealer is crazy..

Tell the dealer if he has taken 'bhang'.. tell him that 1st April is still some days away..

sorry..but maybe the dealer also KNEW that you were " just looking for some fun as I had nothing to do at home" and hence quoted that price ?!!

Its too much for the said model Buddie. It could have been in the region of 1L-1.2L if the condition of the vehicle was that good and original.

before commenting on this price, could you please let me know whether you enquired with dealer does it has a V6 or inline 6; turbocharged or supercharged???

BTW, what is the price of new jeep? (is the new jeep known as Major??) Been seeing quite a few new Jeeps with a name plate Major on the bottom of the front wind screen.

54,000 kms

And we are supposed to believe it was driven about 4000 kms per year, too? This old a Gypsy around here they for 70,000 rupees if they are in good shape and have e.g. a government log book of some kind proving maintenance etc.

Just pay 1/3rd the 2.5 lakhs for the gypsy and send the remaining to my account.
I'll be glad to have it.

I think I know the place where you found this gypsy. Was this in Kormangala(cant recall the name of the dealer)? If yes that gypsy has been lying there for the last 5 months.

The MG410/MG410W is very very underpowered. I do not know how Maruti was able to sell, it probably the Indian public never had anything better as an offroader. That said, the Gypsy is a very nimble vehicle to do offroading, if it is the MG413W variety.

1994 models are not worth anything more than 80k, IMO.

Only good examples of Gypsy King MPFI should go for around 2.5 lakhs.

I used a 410W for 7 years. On the plains there was never any question of being under-powered. In the mountains, there was no gradient that the Gypsy could not do with aplomb - you had to slot it into 4L! In 4L it could virtually climb up impossible gradients, and nothing ever happened to the transmission because roads in such places are invariably unmetalled!
