Do the niggles settle down after 3rd service? << I still havent got into the long term reviews. I will have to dig there for the answers, right? >>
Been a Santro owner myself for the last 7years. Owned 2 actually. Now own a Safari. Pretty happy till now. First service was done at 1500kms. Check my thread.

3 service is at 45k or so I guess!

Discounts for Safari @ Chennai!

Thanks all for your feedback & suggestions!
@Steeroid - Thanks a lot for offering your Bull. As said earlier, I have decided to go with the new one, LX and most probably Artic Silver.

I spoke to the sales guys at Concorde Motors, Chennai and they are willing to provide a cash discount of Rs 12,000 and nothing other than that.

Spoke to VST motors and they are willing to provide the following:
1. Cash Discount - Rs 15000
2. Floor Mats, Mud Flaps
3. Fancy / Designer Number Plates
4. Half Tank Diesel (@ the time of delivery)

At this juncture, offer from VST Motors looks to be good. Anyways, I am just in the preliminary stages of negotiation and will update on further details later.

If anyone has approached the dealers in Chennai and is aware of the discount details, please post the same.

Can someone say, which would be a better dealer in Chennai from Sales & Service perspective. (Concorde, VST, Manipal,..)

gops; Congrats. The deal looks ok. Would suggest that you get the extended warranty instead of accessories as it costs 8k or so.

Congrats Gops. Its a good decision to go for a new one. Please, update the discounts part. Last month there was no discount being offered on Safari except for standard corporate discount. They have sold highest number of safari till date in a year - in 2007-08 as per a news item ( 19K plus) as per the last data received.

Are you going for the bumper painting as well?

Safari owners, Will the bumper painting in LX give a finish like the ones in EX ?

@bglsrini- Thanks for providing the discount details. I shall keep this in mind while talking to the sales guys!

I heard that now a days LX comes with a tubeless tyres. I have asked this question to the dealer, but yet to receive a confirmation from them. Can anyone confirm on this?

@Mission Safari- I am not planning for pianting the bumper & the claddings to the body color. Looks like bglsrini has got that as a freebie from the dealer and his beast looks awesome!

Thanks!
Gopal

yes, you can get the same finish provided you get it done from a good paint shop. Either showroom or authorized dupont guys. My friend got this done for his safari 3.0L DiCor and it came really good.

Thats a significant value addition to LX.

May be I should write to TATA motors to have mine changed from tube to tubeless on their own initiative - cmmon they just can't short change one of the first buyers.

The extended warranty is a must have on your beast.
Regards to the service I think that its as follows, though I too would have to confirm from the service manual
1st 100-1500
2nd 15000k
3rd 30000
4th 45000 and so on
further I believe that along with the kilometer schedule there is a time schedule too. I will see in the manual and confirm. I think that the second service is @ 15000 KMS or 6 months (whichever is earlier)
