Rohit,

That was a quick and great decision.

Thanks , sure I will write my experience in detail soon.

Amit, the comparison was a little confusing. Personally prefer the factory fitted features on the EX than going in for aftermarket options. Personally find the rear de-fogger to be useful when the situation arises. The rear wiper cannot replace the function of the rear defogger.
Condor You are right about rear defogger , but I think rear defogger is required in hills I may be wrong due to my limited experience. I just said that in normal rains in plains rear wiper is sufficent.

About ICE I think aftermarket is better.

Agree on the ICE part.

But I have used the rear defogger in namma bengaluru also :-). For what it is meant for, and not as a interchange between the rear wiper.

Btw, what if you travel to hills and find the need for a defogger ? Would you have one of your passengers go across to the rear windshield and wipe it ?

2. Handling at higher speeds
3. With a 6m turning radius, how is the maneuverability, especially in City?
4. A.S.S (Mumbai)
5. Spare costs

Well, Safari lovers, here's your chance to add one more to your tribe! cheers:
1) 10-12kmpl with AC in city.
2) Its a tall boy, wont handle like Innova/Honda City when you take tight corners. Straight line is good.
3)You will get used to it. I usually make use of pavement/footpath etc if needed
5)The warranty is good. Spare are cheaper if bought from Tata spare parts dealer.
eg: the tail lamp bulb 6rs from Tata spare part shop and 46rs from TASS. Mudflap front and rear 140Rs from Tata spare parts shop.

OT, 2.2L has a new model mudflap which is tough to get. Heard its made of fiber.

Very nice comparison amit.

But is it really advisable to spend around 1.25 Lakh just for a sake of a defogger ?? Dosen't sounds very sound to me.

Can't defogger be fitted as an after market accessory. I remember getting rear glass of a friends esteem replaced with a defogger one in way back 2001-2002, this is what he told me at that time.

Can any one tell the defogger lines on Safari EX are embidden inside the glass or pasted on top of the glass ?

Following thread suggest that Rust red lines are on top of the glass and gets damaged while taking the film Off

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...m-fitting.html

So now the question arises how bad an after fitted defogger lines can be ? Also is it advicable to fit Sunfilm if you have defogger ?

Regards
Amit

@Amit, the defogger lines are "pasted" (if you can use that term) on to the glass, from inside.

I dont think you can get an after-market defogger circuit installed on top of the glass.

It is safe to use sun-film on top of this circuit. It is used widely.

IIRC - and i could be wrong - i think there is a thread somewere, that if you just go to the windsheidl experts and ask them for the ex glass with defogger - they arrange for it.
