help me choose for 60% highway use 40% city use

hi guys. we currently have three cars, 1986 omni, 2003 esteem & 2006 indica turbo. we are looking for a bigger vehicle to replace our esteem. there are 4 adults in my family & one 2year old kid, another kid will come in 3 months. we need a diesel for sure & a suv/muv as we need lots of place. i stay at a town named "khopoli" which is on the mumbai-pune national highway-4 near khandala. the omni and the indica are used for site visits and the esteem is used for drives to mumbai & pune. we have done lots of long drives in it such as mumbai-allahbad, mumbai-goa, mumbai-bangalore, etc. the vehicle is self driven. don't want to go for the xylo. suggest me something between the innova, scorpio, safari or anything else which you think is comparable or better.

There's not much choice given your requirement and realistically speaking Toyota's Innova is your only option.

If you don't mind looks and don't need four wheel drive then Innova is undoubtedly the best bet. No need to look further.

Me for Scorpio considering your family size and accessories to carry along.

I agree with BHPians. Go for Innova.

However if you dont want a Taxi image of innova & if you know a good TATA mechanic, than go for Safari (still looks fresh & stunning).

If your budget permits, than think of Captiva also.

Do you feel that the Scorpio has more interior space than the Innova?

Considering your requirements, Toyota Innova seems to be the best option.
But you can also consider Tata Safari ( niggling problems will be there ), Mahindra Scorpio and the latest entrant, Mahindra Xylo.

TD all of them and then decide. If you are not interested in off-roading abilities and/or you dont need 4X4, then try out Innova and Xylo and decide between them.

I would suggest Innova becasue it is very car like to drive as compared to Xylo where some handling issue still remain ( havent test driven ).

Lastly, also have a look at Sumo Grande and Tavera.

It would be nice if you mention your budget also.

You can go for the Tata Safari or Sumo Grande both are very good vehicles.

Safari has got some small rattling sounds and other than that there are no other problems and very suitable for the kind of place where you are staying.

Just enjoy the drive and reclaim your life by driving your Safari

The innova is a good drivers vehicle as well as passengers vehicle. do check it out as it will allow for comfortable seating in the 3rd row as well. Also, if another member is due in 3 months, the innova will allow for easy ingress and egress.

The Innova ticks all the boxes of your requirements. You can go for it blindly.

By the way, there were discounts floating around for the old Innova after the new face lifted launch. Am not sure whether, they are still offering discounts, but you can check.
