Even though you have specified a NEW SUV, you could try for a decent Hyundai Tuscon used. Diesel + Comfy + Excellent Road Manners + Pathetic resale = steal..

Innova would be the best choice anytime, Its got great comfort, good FE
I would suggest to keep Safari as the second and last option
Above budget you can plan for Fortuner/Pajero
TD both Innova and Safari and you should be able to decide

If you can wait for 4 odd months, you will have Skoda Yeti as a good option hopefully in your price bracket..
I was personally keen & looking forward to the Yeti but then the Linea baby got my attention & didn't let me wait. But Yeti is worth waiting Imho

Best to go with The King - Tata Safari 2.2, this satisfies all your requirements and suits your dad's personality requirement.

Just go for it and enjoy by reclaiming the life.

Your only option is the Safari VX . But there are a lot of horror stories around.Be prepared.
Otherwise if an MUV then you can go for Innova V .Great Car , Extrremely reliable.
But wont offer you the immense road presence that Safari would.

I would suggest to look at used tuscon, endy, pajero. They will fall withing ur budget and also not have quality and A$$ issues that you may expect from Safari. Try to convince your dad on second hand

I would love to have a second hand but unfortunatly my dad aggreing to buy me a RS is a huge deal have had to promise alot of things and atleast 5-6 months of convincing that for a car for me, my use, my taking care not his, so its out of the question to change his mind.
XYLO IS NOT A SUV, IT IS NOT EVEN A MUV, IT IS AN ABOMINATION, but unfortunatle it is a good car but because of my preconcieved notions of 'SUV' i.e. jeep look a like it isnt into consideration.
My first and foremost choice was the Safari 3.0L 4x4 which was the car we were going to buy instead of the qualis and though that it would be perfect, but 2.2L is just too puny, but being safari it is always in option.
Last i remember the endevour was around 15 Lacs, isnt it now?
Gypsy is completely out of option as it is a jeep and he doesnt want a jeep, just something that will make you feel that you are driving one but still have the luxuary of cars.

the 2.2l happens to have more power and torque, is faster and more refined than the 3l. why such silly statements?

the endeavour starts at 18l i think. but but but, wait a month or so and you might be able to get one cheap just before ford launches the facelift, since the dealers will want to clear out stock. but beware, the ride is shitty.

I was suggested a second hand car, i was pointing out how much my dad hates buying a second hand car. Even me buying is not ok, for which i will pay in full and i will also pay for repairs, etc.

I am sure that you are aware that Qualis are not sold anymore.

IMHO, Innova is not a SUV, however its a very good buy.
